Big, easy to see and click tiles to open programs. Opens and closes instantly so full-screen isn’t a problem. Not as customizable as I’d like but you can still tweak it a little. It’s just better than the equivalent functionality in a regular start menu.
(OTOH the Windows 8.1 “start menu” is a absolute clusterfuck junk drawer and would be completely useless without a search box.)
Same, bruh. Same. :(
That avatar goes so well with your comment XD
I miss Nichijou
Just sayin’.
@DragonWraith
Yeah, I can see that, I suppose. Perhaps another way would be more effective, or at least less destructive. I believe what I mean at the center though still stands. Finding a way to shut down these people so they have to do a lot to just get shut down again would be more effective than just fighting their attempts on the rest of the world.

Damn, you’re an Autism Officer and you go after other mods? Did they just give you a baseball bat and said, “Go hit the s, Paulie!”
It’s “viruses” not “virii” you dumb psuedo-pedant.
You do realise that, even beyond all of the ways your idea would go horribly wrong (as touched upon by Hebbocake), that is a completely impractical idea that would be impossible to enforce.
People who write virii don’t all use the same toolchains, and if your toolchain blows up your computer it’s trivial to just switch to another that doesn’t.

I already did, your “programming the software” is such a dumb and bullshit plan, I can’t even.
I already stated why it’s dumb. It would be make millions of problems, for once it WILL detect it wrong a lot of times and shut down wrong the wrong pc’s. That is just inevitable. If the method gets out and it actually works, it will just be used for hacking people and doing MUCH more damage than some ransomware or virus. It’s easily exploitable, etc etc.
I don’t need “data” do claim this is a stupid idea, just use common sense. Even if I needed it, how the hell am I going to get data to back something like this up? Polls from opinions? No way.
You know, you respond with a REALLY compulsive attitude and don’t back up your claims with data. I believe you’re just spouting bullshit because you need something to spout bullshit at. However, if you went into detail, I’d be more than happy to listen. If not, then you have nothing to contribute.
And it would be beautifully illegal, prone to problems and prone to even more hacking too, fucking everyone over if the method gets out. Great job!
Because people who love technology know that old crap is dead crap. You wouldn’t use an old Nokia 3310 just because you could drop it from a roof and it would crack the sidewalk. Don’t be an old person. Become apart of the tech world and MAYBE, just MAYBE, you could learn to code yourself some nice little anti-virus that’s specific to your computer. THAT, is what can save you money AND couple well with updates.
Though, actual explanation time. Software companies issue updates to fix code within the system, patch bugs that would otherwise cause problems for the , and above all, change security. You see, after a month has gone by, scammers and those who manufacture viruses have analyzed the code and are now updating their scams and viruses to by the security so they can get a chance at your wallet. Companies update their software regularly because this makes it near impossible for someone to get a virus unless it’s through a by caused by error, such as clicking on a link that forces a . Scammers and the like cannot access or look at code that hasn’t been released yet, so by the time they’re starting to understand the old code and make new security byes, the software company has already released a new game with a new set of rules that those individuals have to learn in order to keep up.
What would REALLY benefit software companies, in my opinion, is programming the software, if it detects that the is creating a virus, to fry the processor itself and all associated hardware. This effectively eliminates those in other countries without money because now the computer they did have for illegal actions is destroyed. The one thing that a scammer or virus manufacturer hates more than anything is when they become the prey, because once that happens the tables have turned and they’re more than likely going to give up, in some form or another. You can watch various videos on Youtube where software engineers will set up Virtual Machines and willingly get viruses, so that they can come in with the person associated with the virus and brick their computer.
Scammers may be somewhat smart, but they’re not rich when it comes down to the barebones. If you cripple their means of income, you kill the plant at the root, and with any luck you can change the scammer’s mindset to do something much more fulfilling with their life.
Famous among friends and family for running ancient software without updates.
Ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Don’t bloat it.
Why the hell do people religiously update?
You must use shitty software and or hardware then. Because updating your shit is just plain better. And if it really fucks it up, you can always revert if the manufacturer is competent. And that “fuck younim updating right now” is because YOU neglected to update it time and time again other times and Windows just installs the essential security updates and fixes. It isn’t a fucking curse that they try to make their software and OS better now is it?
Use an adblocker, disallow javascript and flash, don’t click random links or run random attachments people send you, and generally just don’t be a moron. That covers you 99.99999999%. If you’re paranoid about the other .0000001%, do regular backups so you won’t lose anything if you get infected and have to reformat. A couple hours reinstalling everything once every N years beats a lifetime of fighting Windows Update.
Blindly updating everything constantly without a specific reason causes a hundred times more problems than infections will. Most of the computer problems I’ve had in recent memory were because I forgot to disable updates on something and it decided to randomly break one day. Hell if I’m going to open my computer every morning and wonder what doesn’t work anymore or worry about suddenly not being able to use it at all because Windows 10 decided ‘fuck you I’m updating right now’.
t. religiously disable autoupdates on everything I ever install, never update anything without a reason, and haven’t been infected with anything in over a decade (before I learned the “don’t click random shit” rule).
And that’s what you need. So it is still usable untill 2020
No, mainstream ended a little bit ago. Sure, security updates won’t end till 2020, but that doesn’t mean you should stick with it till 2020.
That’s … quite the naive view on things. Software without active maintenance is always prone to security breaches no matter how careful you are online. That’s particularly true for Windows with its big market share.
Thats a REALLY dumb way of going at it, especially for pc security.
@Silent Wing
And what are you blabbering on about? Windows 7 is still very secure and stable with full from Microsoft.
As a rule, I don’t update when things aren’t breaking.
Just wait till you stop getting system updates.
In all my years of Windows 7, I’ve only had 1 virus. Without running an antivirus.
Because I know what I’m doing.
Would you like some ransomware?
