@ElderlyWalrus
Gosh that is true getting a slot from the artists you like the most is near impossible, that is a solid point, I end up mostly with Russian artists because they’re more likely to be open than others, and trust me I’m not filtering Kiva at all, just because something can be odd it totally doesn’t mean it can’t be good as well [:
My boyfriend and I only do FleetDash because that is our roleplaying ponies [:

Heh, once I found YCH.commishes it certainly opened the floodgates for me. One other point I forgot to mention; finding open commission slots isn’t as easy as YCH’s, which have a single site where one can go to browse what’s available. I’m aware of Derpibooru’s commissions section, but it’s not as vast.
I don’t expect Kiva to be liked by everyone, the lack of mane and tail can be jarring. I always make sure to tag my s appropriately, to make it easy for s to filter her out if they don’t like her.
As I mentioned, I don’t have a creative bone in my body so I respect and am in awe of artists. That leads to me wanting to their hobby/livelihood, which leads to me gobbling up auctions as an excuse to send them money. That I get art out of it is usually just a bonus.
@ElderlyWalrus
Then again it can happen like it did with my last commission with Setharu, when he sent me the first sketch it was already so good I’d be willing to stick with it let alone the final work xD
Also I finally got to know the person behind this OC how interesting you’re quite the enthusiastic when it comes to commissioning aren’t you? I’m not 100% fan of the OC I’ll be honest but I did like a lot of art that came from your effort.
I’m one of those people that prefer YCH’s to regular commissions for the reasons already mentioned. I’m not creative enough to imagine a pose or scene so I’m happy to let the artists decide that for me. Some other factors:
I’m worried that I’ll be asking too much from the artist for a regular commission. With a YCH you have a fairly small range of what the final piece can look like and can evaluate the price based on that.
I’m worried about being disappointed in the final piece because I failed to accurately convey my mental image. While the final product might be excellent it’s not exactly what I wanted, so it rubs me the wrong way.
I’m worried about being seen as a bother while negotiating the commission since a lot more communication has to go into it. With a YCH it’s usually as simple as:
“Hi, I won your auction. Here’s my character, what’s your PayPal?” >Receive email “Thanks, payment sent.” >Wait days/weeks >Receive commission “Thanks! What’s your Tumblr/DeviantArt/FurAffinity page I can link to show others more of your art?”(Some artists link their sites in the auction description but a vast majority don’t, such as this one) >Receive link > to Derpibooru
I’ve gotten a lot of YCH’s, it’s like clockwork at this point. With a commission, there’s a lot more back and forth approving initial sketches and clarifying details, etc.
But, all that’s just me. Maybe others that get YCH’s do it for other reasons, and props to the people that get regular commissions for letting their creativity out and getting what they want.

I have some problems with drawing wings in this pose. Some poses for me are inaccessible, because of what some races can be difficult to draw. I will try to make the next YCH absolutely for all races!
@stevebrony24
Some people dislike to figure out the position and background and such for commissions so on a ych you only say the character you want and that’s it.
I don’t like ychs because I do like to pick the background positions and every thing so i only do normal commissions, but this ych seems promising I was going to bid but then I realized the following:
Rules:
-Unicorn/earth only.
Fuck was going to ask for Fleetfoot so forget about it xD
@stevebrony24
Some people aren’t able to draw. What I don’t understand is, if they’re willing to pay for a commission anyway, why not commission art normally?

Exactly!

That’s cool to know I’ll make sure to give it a look.
No, you asked why they don’t just draw over the base.
that’s what I just said

Why not just draw your own on it instead?
