It’s actually a common trope, every comic book does it at least with one of the heroes. Lord knows it’s happened to Superman like 50 times.
Even happened to Sonic the Hedgehog (comic version) once when he had amnesia, and he literally beat up all his friends.

I’m beginning to wonder if IDW knows what else to do with them any more. Okay, they clearly do, but there have been a lot of ‘Mane Six turn evil’ stories.

Discord says that most other ponies, if left alone, would go crazy from the chaos in his realm. But for Pinkie she became attuned towards it and was able to control it to a degree.
Personally I feel like any pony trapped here long enough would end up a bit warped. Pinkie just happens to be a bit more susceptible, as she is also a bit more in tune with the bizarre and chaotic than most ponies.

How many times has a character turned evil in the series so far? (Even the CMC were antagonists in one issue.)
Granted, Nightmare Rarity was cool, and one of the most popular OCs from the IDW comic canon.
