The panic and salt from here and elsewhere reminds me of the good ol’ “Truck not monkey” days from early Beast Wars. We have truely become one with Hasbro’s other big fanbase. The Transformers fans will be so proud of us.
I would not be surprised if G5 ended up like Beast Wars did: Hated at first then Vindicated after a few decades…

This picture is so accurate, for the most part….. Equestria will continue to exist, but life there will go on without us watching, we will not be able to see any more of it.
If Hasbro doesn’t turn these plans around, keeping G5 as showing the same universe like G4, then it’s over and the end has really come.

I just had a thought here, because of this comment. Maybe, as devastating this reveal is, there is something good to the leaks:
They might encourage Hasbro to reconsider plans.
Even though technically none of these single, individual ideas Meghan McCarthy spoke about in her mails are final or set in stone, they make very clear that Hasbro’s intention is a reboot, rather than a continuation from where G4 will leave off, so the cat’s out of the bag that Generation 5 will show an alternate universe.
And the fandom won’t like this and will without a doubt make its voices heard about it, bombarding DHX, Hasbro, Meghan McCarty, ect. with concerned and/or outraged mails, tweets, ect.
Especially because Meghan McCarthy’s e-mail address at Hasbro is known, too, now. As well as the mail addresses of a few others who are involved in creating G5.
It’s even likely that a lot of the children who watch the show aren’t fond of a reboot, because at the end of the day, regardless of age, we have all grown so fond of Equestria that we never want to leave it again.
So, not only is Hasbro’s secret out, which is really bad for marketing, there will also be an uproar from the fanbase now, sending the signal to Hasbro that there will be lots of unhappy customers if it goes through with those reboot plans.
Maybe, this one time, the guy who leaked all of this did us a favor. We might be able to keep Equestria with us because of that.
We need to take this to Hasbro, big time, and tell them what we want.
Everyone wants to talk about the “some people just want to watch the world burn” people, but they come later in the sequence. It’s the fragility and self-crash-ability of the world that’s the problem so much more often.
And the problem is, the things that make me love Applejack is why she is not as popular with the target demographic and the fans, she is often excluded from merch in favor of secondary characters.
Writers ignore her in favor of her family and neglect her to play second fiddle in favor of the rest of the characters.

Those are early plans anyway. Plans can change. Why even get an ulcer over what may or may not happen? I read those leaks, and nothing looks or sounds even slightly nailed down.
I have read the leaks, as Mr Pelusa says many will not like what comes there especially in the subject of Apple Jack to which they consider the less charismatic character commercially speaking, here the fans do not count but the market.

I did say I read them. And the thing is, I can’t actually decide if that’s good or bad before I see what the execution’s like.
Key word is Generation Change ,G5 AJ is going to be different from G1 “Silly Pony” AJ or G4”Appulhorse” AJ
