I think it’s hilarious that this WebM uses The Fairly Oddparents to get this point across. It’s a show that went on and on to the point it outstayed its welcome and became a shadow of its former self. Yet people want G4 of MLP to keep going and going and going and not expect the same to happen to it if it were to go down that line.

Everyone does
And everyone hopes they’re wrong. Only time will tell.
Nothing is set in stone and its still 2 years away. Plenty of time for changes and new information to come out and barely anything is out already. At best, it will be just as loved, if not more. At worst, everyone will watch reruns of G4 and make fan-related content like we already do.
This is not the first time Hasbro has done this. Transformers has been rebooted several times with the same or similar character and barring a few notable exceptions no one really complained, as did TMNT.
That is true … but I’ve grown tired of the characters and want something new. But oh well.
I did not say they need to keep producing new FIM episodes, I just said that G5 didn’t need to be a reboot. And I am not talking ing the same characters.
Well, yes. I don’t really know how to answer this properly, however, TMNT always had the four turtles as the main cast and that is what makes some people recognize the series.
I could talk about something they said in the leaked information but I think that is against the rules. I never knew if that happened ’cause of Hasbro or ’cause their were afraid that this would bring any consequences.
FiM is coming to a close. Most of the main characters have already concluded a character arc, and it’s going to be harder to develop them more without rehashing earlier ideas.
The reason why they want to reuse the Mane 6 is because they are characters people are most familiar with in this franchise. That’s all. Before G4 My Little Pony had nowhere near the popularity and brand recognition it does now. This is not the first time Hasbro has done this. Transformers has been rebooted several times with the same or similar character and barring a few notable exceptions no one really complained, as did TMNT.
But why a reboot with literally the same characters? I mean, they did not even change the colors of Twilight (g4) and Fluttershy. And you ask, why a continuation?
I ask, why not?
Seriously, you really think that 10 years is really a great time to “reboot characters”? And people even compare this with Sponge Bob, give me a break, Sponge Bob is airing on TV since 1999. Also, making a continuation with different characters it would not make any difference, wait, it would… Because they would not need to use the same characters and probably trash their personalities away. Let see if this new generation is not a new kind of G 3.5.
@Joshua
Yes, unless they’ve committed to it, it can change.
G4 went through several changes before being finalised, and went though more changes during the show.
I always thought that g5 would come but not necessarily I thought that it would be a reboot.
Depends on what you mean with reboot. Every generation of MLP has made up a new universe, kinda, with new characters. – G4 did copy some old character designs and names, but those have completely new personalities, so I see them as completely new character that just happens to have the same name and look.
It not
I sure hope so
Too bad :P EG will continue beyond FiM.
My point exactly
@SailorEarth
You. I like you.

This sounds familiar
I don’t want the same characters, I want new characters.
FairlyOdd Parents, The Simpsons, Family Guy, …
But if it’s not the same characters, why making it a continuation? Just make it a new thing.

How about yes?

How about no? ;)
But why a continuation?
and heres an crazy idea: make g5 be a continuation of g4 with new cast of characters nit a god damn reboot with the same fucking cast

Here’s an idea: Be happy that they’re just rejected designs.
from what ive heard and seen with the concept art it looks and sounds like crap
Why? What do we even know about it?
i personally have zero faith in it
There`s no way to make it again. Only the time will tell.

I’m not sure why anything not-G4 will automatically suck. However, if G5 has too much pandering, I could see it being annoying, and therefore suck.
