I actually prefer this style as it takes evolution in to not just shoving a pony head on a human body. A true Anthro is humanoid not a human with x traits. It would have in pony case fur on the whole body the equine like legs and some different organs like a middle fermentation intestine and longer gestation of fetuses to birth.
I agree for the most part, however I’m not sure about their legs. The hooves especially seem to still be designed for a four legged animal. A larger, perhaps cloven hoof would provide much batter balance and stability when walking on two legs. A good example of this would be the Sangheili from Halo.
Officers should in all cases have a sabre. The pistols were more of a sidearm, fired from the left hand with the sword ready in the right hand. Continental cavalry usually would be mainly melee troops, carrying either sabre or lance, the exception being dragoons which were more of a mobile infantry force.
… and German and Austrian Jägers, various British units, and probably more. Uniforms were a lot more varied at this time with even separate provinces all having their own uniforms for every rank, sometimes with very different colours. Napoleon’s army during the Russian campaign would have been a mish-mash of colours and styles.
@Ghost of Zeon
Sort of my point there; both infantry officers and cavalry might be expected to carry a pistol (or more) so it doesn’t really prove much either way :p
@DoesNotExist
True but a cavalry used mostly pistols and sabers as well. Some would carry more then one. Granted I’m a American and my knowledge of cavalry is US and British so it’s limited and vary brutal.
@Ghost of Zeon
See what I mean about the headgear? Plumed caps or helmets, rather than what looks more like an infantry shako. Pistols don’t mean much either, infantry officers would carry a sword and pistol rather than a long arm like a musket or rifle.

I won’t lie, at first I was wondering if Scoots was supposed to be in French uniform, but that was mostly because I misread the IX on her shako badge as an N!
@Background Pony #E2BF
Given scoots is a Pegasus and she has pistols she is probably a Arial infantry division probably serving a role like cavalry in our world.
Wow. These uniforms Scootaloo and Applejack are wearing is indeed Russian military uniforms from the Napoleonic era. Looks like Scoots has a riflemen’s or officer’s uniform with multiple pistols ‘cuz why not, and Applejack has a standard Infantry’s uniform. The shako’s plume length and the cross belts forming a box with a horizontal belt gives it away.
This was the uniform used by British Dragoons in the revolutionary war and the second picture is a officers portrait of the same unit I forget his name

I’ve never been able to get into this kind of anthro. It’s like those joke images where someone photoshopped a pony character’s head onto a person only the art quality itself can actually be decent and it isn’t a joke…which is problematic for the effect it actually has.
@DoesNotExist
Scootaloo is dragoon both British and German dragoons wore green in the time of American Revolution, also the Hessen middlemen wore green.
@Omegathelegnd
Nah, not rifle uniforms. British riflemen of the time wore darker green jackets than either of these two with black tros, and a much shorter firearm than the standard infantry musket.
I know it’s 2 months later, but sometimes in the 18th century countries like prussia would arm NCOs with rifled carbines.

Why is it problematic? What’s the effect that you take issue with?
I don’t know, I’m not sure the dragoons would have worn that style of shako.
