It’s obviously Scottish-inspired, but the actress is American, so obviously they aren’t going to have it down perfectly. So Pom just sounds vaguely Scottish, which works for me. A real Scottish accent probably would be a bit too intense for her.

Correct, among other roles. Specifically his role as Lord Hater is what got him cast as Fred, as if you needed any more reason to cast Keith Ferguson.

Just to confirm, according to Anu Tian is (both in age and maturity) the oldest one in the cast. It goes something like this:
Maturity
Tian>>Velvet/Paprika>Oleander>Pom>Ari.
Age
Tian>>>>>>>>>>Oleander>>>Velvet/Paprika>>Pom>Ari
This is obviously not final “set in stone” lore, but consider he gave that estimate way past the time they announced they had selected the cast.
About the picture, I really like Velvet’s voice, but I feel a lot of the characters are on the high pitched side which can be grating if playing for an extended time (I got tired of Oli really quick, but that might be just my projectile happy playstile).

I think Tian is still meant to be fairly young by the standard of her species, but yes, she is the oldest of the cast, both in physical age (by a whooole lot) and mental/maturity age (by not as much as you think). She’s also an honorable warrior and the captain of the royal guard, so yeah, it’s only natural she sounds rather seasoned and mature. It fits her very well. I think her voice actress is also the oldest of the group, but don’t quote me on that.
The rest of the voices are great and I love every bit of them. The devs certainly told the actresses what to do to make these specific character personalities shine through, and all the ladies (and one gent) came through in spades. The wide variety of accents is delightful too, especially precious Pom.

My thoughts on the video:
Hearing Tara’s Texan accent is something else. Further proof of her talent.
Velvet is spot-on with the Scandinavian. I await “Ze Floofz” meme with anticipation.
Tian sounds old, but I guess that’s reflective of being the oldest of the cast.
Oleander’s British is too light-hearted but I guess it reflects the fact she is not evil even if she does use black magic.
What can I said about Fred? The mix of a nebbish Brit one second and a deep guttoral Eldritch tone the next is something else.
Paprika suprised me the most since she mostly vocalizes through trills, laughs and hums. Hope her story mode gives her dialogue.
And finally my fave: Pom’s Scottish accent is so cute. Interesting her VA doesn’t have much history but these diamonds in the rough are quite nice.
All in all, good choices for voices. Now to wait for the victory quotes and fine-tuning the game in prep for the 22nd.
Well, I didn’t expect this cast wise! Can’t wait for this to come out I’m hoping there will be a side tournament at EVO or something as well. I would love to watch that.
Indeed she is, and she’s voicing the one character who doesn’t talk. XD Messing around in the beta, she just giggles, trills, and makes kissing noises. Velvet, when she does her super moves, is actually the one that sounds like Celestia Ludenberg flipping her shit. It’s kinda wild.
Tara & Keith are the most immediately recognizable names here, but all the others have plenty of notable voice credits, except for Allie Moreno. TFH is only the second thing listed to her name. But holy god is her Pom voice killing me to death.

Honey, you have design the characters, the mechanics, the stages, the menus, ui, sound, music, and unique fighting styles.
You also have to program the character, mechanics, stages, menus, ui, sound, music, and fighting styles.
With a fighting game, you’re also going to have to program and rigorously test the varying levels of AI for things like single player and training mode.
You also have to test the open world lobby and matchmaking.
And with this game, you have to animate every frame, and program the hitboxes to match those animations.
Oh, and there’s what happens when moves collide, and which ones would take priority.
Adding in one character takes a long time, because you don’t want your players to use the same broken move, you have to keep going back and reworking the character’s moves until the character’s moves feel useful in different situations.
Oh shit, we still have to add 5 more characters, make them as balanced as we made our first character, but make them have different fighting styles too!
Alright, it took a while, but now we feel that all six characters we added are fairly balanced! Let’s give it to our playtesters to see if they agree-
Oh fuck, they found something you didn’t and turns out this one combo is broken.
And this one.
And this one.
Now we gotta rework all the moves to make sure they still feel balanced, not overpowered or useless.
Oh, alright, it seems like this might work. Let’s give it to our playtesters to see what they think.
