My argument is the curse didn’t boost her magic, and only changed her morality. Logically, should still be capable of doing something similar in a given situation.
It is mostly true though I gotta point out the cursed water or whatever DID empower their magic according to evil Twilight whose struggled with evil Rarity. Which isn’t much important of a point after all because Twilight most likely didn’t need a magic boost to make her “IQ stealer” machine.

And yes Pinkie Pie technically didn’t steal it, she was capable of holding it’s magic indefinitely, (because Discord’s magic is insanely powerful), and she DID try to upsurp him, but she only lost because she had little experience which Discord exploited.
Twilight “drained other ponies intelligence, and predict the scenario of any possible outcome of a situation” with a machine she made when she became evil with a drak magic/curse or whatever.
And the Celestia one too I assume coming from the special arc that includes Celestia being connected to her other self, nothing to do with RD’s punch’s power.
Lastly Pinkie stole Discord’s magic unintentionely with visiting his dimension while he was away. When Discord came back he gained control in half a hour anyway.

Well, Twilight can possess others, take away magic of other ponies, drain away their intelligence, and predict the scenario of any possible outcome of a situation. Rainbow Dash can time travel, and she once punched Princess Celestia so hard her alternate universe counterpart felt it, and Pinkie Pie stole Discord’s magic and became a god.

The Archie Sonic comics were actually pretty good IMO, (and they became better later on) but I it it had a few weird moments. (Like Titan Tails.)
Though, honestly nearly every long running comic book series have weird/stupid moments. You should see the original TMNT comics, or Silver Age Batman ones.
Y’know, I think those who left the show, just because of one character, owe an apology for mocking those that left the show for other similar minor reasons. (Like the anti-wing Twilight people, and such.) And yes, I’ve seen some fans like that.
Heck, some left the show, because of Flurry Heart… Yes, the baby with little bearing on the plots, whom only makes cameo appearances now.
Heck, arguably, the Friendship school students appear more then Starlight does now, so it looks like we have a new bunch of characters for a quarter of the fanbase to get angry over. So honestly, the Starlight drama is old news now.

She only did that because she ran out of options to “look for a friendship problem”. She unlike Starlight didn’t result to using magic right away, she tried to find ponies with problems but that didn’t work, so she tried to go to her friends for help but they didn’t take her problem seriously, so with an “unstable mindset” she resorted to the only other option magic, and even then she didn’t use magic on the doll until after she saw that the CMC weren’t playing with Smarty Pants willingly, so then she used the mind control spell and it got out of “hoof”.
It’s probably irrelevant since Twilight is naturally stronger post-season 8
