I understood the caption to mean the result to be purely imaginary (which I take means having zero real part as per usual definitions). With that assumption Berry Punch is not only real but also non−negative. Proof is left as an exercise to the drunk.
Ahh. I misinterpreted your post then.
I guess the real root of Berry Punch is +/- alcohol, or grapes and wheat, which get fermented into alcohol.
EDIT: Of course, this is the root of negative Berry Punch, so if Berry Punch is non-negative, then negative Berry punch must be negative.

You can still take the square root of an imaginary number.
