Yes, gravity is moving the sun and moon. Yes, the science s such a conclusion.
But you haven’t seen what their “natural” flight paths are like. You haven’t seen what happens.
Trust us, good citizens of Equestria; the princess’ role is crucial. Her role of royalty is otherwise incidental; even if she were a hermit living alone in the wilderness, she would do this duty for you all every day and every night.
… no, the natural flight paths of the sun and moon wouldn’t result in an apocalypse. It would just be very, very unpleasant for a very, very long time. Avoiding it is more than worth the effort.

If you read it, it heavily implies that Celestia and Luna are lying, which I’m pretty sure that will have no actual impact on the story. And they’re trying to disprove that the Sun and Moon are being controlled by the sisters, not magic itself.
@Meanlucario
It’s not about them being fakes at all. These are scientists trying to refute magic as if it doesn’t exist. Basically, they’re flat earthers.

Where’s the fun in trying to make Celestia and Luna fakes when they story isn’t about them or the consequences about it? At best, it’s a Family Guy side gag.
@Tip
Trouble is that Twilight was making the sun and moon wobble. So either she was moving the earth that way, or more likely the sun and moon actually are circling equestria.
It fits into my theory that Equestria is composed of dark matter, and has captured a star to orbit around it.
@Prometheus labs CEO
I always saw it as either, they rotate the earth, or the earth rotates and revolves and such, they just speed it up to “normal” levels
Why couldn’t both be true? Maybe their planet doesn’t rotate on its own, and the moon isn’t able to revolve around the planet. Meaning that Celestia would be the only thing keeping the day/night cycle going, and from one half of the planet freezing while the other burns, and Luna is the only thing keep the moon from crashing into the planet
I imagine that if celestia and Lina were to stop moving the sun and moon the planet would just be pulled into the sun

What fun is that?

Transitive property. A=B and C=B, so A=C
Uhhhh, sure we’ll go with that.
So, I guess the moon is the sun then.
NO IT’D MAKE THE SUN THE EARTH!
Wouldn’t that also make the sun the moon?
THE EARTH IS AS ROUND AS THE SUN, THE MOON IS AS ROUND AS THE EARTH, THEREFORE THE EARTH IS THE MOON.
stop trying to cover up the truth with your facts and reasoning!
The fact she was able to vandalize the moon(by herself), means she has some level of high magical capability me thinks.
Ouch…
@Communist Starlight
Not my parent, thankfully
To have a parent who does nothing but drink?
Having a bitter parent who takes their issues out on their kid. Not me, but my sister.
In that we were once innocent and bright-eyed, only to grow up bitter and cynical?
