Now I’m getting to the Villains. Here’s Discord’s trainer card.
Notice he’s the only one holding a pokeball. This is because the thought of actually imprisoning his pokemon was too good to up.
He has an Absol because they are known to follow natural disasters, which he can abuse to cause chaos.
Giratina has the ability to go between dimensions, which is useful for him to cause even more chaos, flip-flopping his own dimension and opening portals to confuse his victim ponies.
Gengar is there because like him, he loves mischief and chaos, a kindred spirit to him if anything.
Misdrevious loves the sounds of screams, and scaring ponies, something Discord also has a liking to.
Gyarados’s habit of destroying anything in it’s path when it goes into a frenzy is useful for Discord, causing havoc and chaos, which is what he lives for.
And finally, Shuppet loves to feed off the vengeful and dark emotions off of others, which Discord is practically pulsating with, and causing everywhere he goes.

Maybe this is Discord’s way of being malevolent? He sends out that poor Absol to warn people about the impending chaos, they spite the Absol, but heed it’s word and leave, and then they fall into the Draconequus’ clutches. Sounds like something a scheming demon like him would do.
