Honestly, Applejack has never shown any signs of struggle or strain whenever she uses her super strength. Her thumb might actually be strong enough to lift that weight from that position because her strength is, as far as we know, without limit.
I’m not saying that you’re wrong for being bothered by the physics, though. I totally get it.

The scene you mention is actually somewhat physically reasonable, considering that the other side of the bus seems to be on the ground. That uses torque to make things easier.
In this image it’s the other way around, the force needed on that thumb seems like significantly more than 10x the weight of the weights at the end of the bar.
There is signaling effortless, and then there is physically wtf. This triggers my background in physics! :<

Yes, that is, ittedly, not the natural way that one would hold a weight. But, that EQG Applejack has canonically lifted a freaking bus from one side of its weight, as well.
Besides, I told Racoon-kun that I wanted AJ’s feat of strength in this picture to look “effortless,” and the unconventional way she’s holding the weight was a good way of showing that, if you ask me.
