“Scootaloo’s stuck in a red void of madness, eye strain and not much else, are you pony enough to help her get through 33 levels of button busting madness? Generic My Little Pony Game ’95 Only for Nintendo Virtual Boy.” Read that in the 90s video game slacker commercial voice.
Also it wasn’t anything that was later found out. That was always there as a precaution. Basically anything to do with either 3D or VR has that warning. I have an Oculus Go and it has that warning too.

Hmm.
Ye, that was it.

The warning about kids is also on the boxes of Nintendo 3DS and their 3D effect.
You’re probably not the only one, however the console was at least later found that you shouldn’t give it to 8 year olds or younger kids because it can mess with their eyes.
@Nick Frayser
That was a fun one.
Galactic Pinball.
One of them was indeed Mario Tennis. The other was some type of pinball game.
Truly sad…
And unfortunately he is dead since some guy ran him over.
Gunpei Yokoi would go on to oversee the production of the Game Boy Pocket, and then left Nintendo because he felt responsible for the failure of the Virtual Boy.
FYI, all the over the top warnings on the Virtual Boy are on any device that uses 3D such as the Nintendo 3DS
Mario Tennis and the Wario Land games?
I used to play it for fairly long duration’s at a time and oddly enough, apart from the occasional little headache, it never damaged my eyes. Maybe I was just lucky. Only had two games for it, but still thought it was fun.
Even using it for a few minutes led to some notieceable eye strain. What’s more, the “3-D’ effects don’t really play out well with an inherently 2-D system.
But this was also during the First Virtual Reality Revolution, where we got things like The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, VR Troopers, and The Lawnmower Man (film).
It must have just been me then. I used to play it for maybe ten minutes before I got a headache.
There’s why I never played it for more than the recommended 15 minutes at a time.
