I’m not sure where you got that I was assuming magic could not exist on their world. teleportation exists in MLP because magic exists in MLP, which to someone really trying hard to deny the existence of magic would be evidence that they’re in a simulation.

As fascinating as this talk of the theoretical nature of magic is, I think the biggest issue here is that the OP seems to have been under the impression that the main six need to be unfailingly perfect embodiments of their associated concepts, with no room for even the most minor deviations – that Rarity cannot ever want anything for herself, that Pinkie cannot ever be unhappy, and so on. Essentially it seems to imply that they have to be such flat, two-dimensional embodiments of whatever their associated element is that even a minor incident where they aren’t being perfect archetypes of it is a gross breach of character – and that’s tremendously boring characterization, not least because it prevents them from actually having any characterization.
That, and the actual understanding of what each element represents is… dodgy. Twilight’s Element of Magic always struck me as representing metaphorical magic, i.e. the magic of friendship, more so than actual spellcasting. It would be pretty out of place otherwise – what does casting spells have to do with being friends?

I tend to agree. It’s fairly obvious that the show operates under a completely different set of laws of nature from our world. Turning frogs into oranges is impossible in our world, but obviously it is in MLP’s. In regards to the reality Twilight experiences, that sort of thing is just as possible and just as rational as electric lamps – there’d be no reason for her to treat them as qualitatively different things; they’re both expressions of the laws of reality as they’re present in her world.

people have proven that teleportation cannot exist, so if it does exist, there’s no logic or reason that says it should. some things can be proven unprovable. I can’t decide that they’re provable any more than I can decide the sky is unprovable.
if you really want to stretch the metaphor you can say it’s not teleportation, but instead it’s pixels on a screen. the existence of magic would be pretty good evidence that we were some sort of simulation. but there would be no way to prove that, not any more than pinkie pie can jump out of the screen.

Buuut you can’t prove that magic can’t be proven in MLP. They haven’t given enough information to show if it can be explained or not. You’ve just decided that it’s proven that it can’t be proven.

you can sometimes prove that something cannot be proven, such as if there’s a room in which the air molecules keep separating into a hot side and a cold side. any logical explanation for it leads to a contradiction according to thermodynamics, so magic is the only possible thing it can be. which is why such a room can’t exist, because magic isn’t real.

The magic in the show is the ability to do things with your mind. Everything is intentional and have a reason to happen. Twilight is against there not being any reason, she isn’t against magic. Well, she’s against your magic, but not her magic.
the way I define it, magic can’t follow rules. science is building up from fundamental principles, while magic is digging down below them. if magic followed rules, then it would be science, and the principles it was based on would be the magic.
so for instance science would be experimenting to see how much weight a unicorn could levitate, while magic would be the fact that the horn does the glowy thing and makes things go up for no reason.
the fact remains that in feeling pinkie keen, twilight sparkle is pretty anti-magic. OP is wrong that it’s because she’s using technology. it’s because she’s made to look ridiculous for using it, a stereotypical caricature of how dumb scientists are for refusing to accept things on blind faith.
the elements of harmony give them that power over others. not even the bearers realize it, but it’s not that rarity must always be generous. it’s that everypony else must always be generous to rarity. similarly, nopony can lie to applejack and get away with it. nopony can resist laughing at pinkie pie. rainbow dash’s commanding personality inspires immense loyalty. nopony can bear to be unkind to fluttershy. and everypony wants to be twilight sparkle’s friend.
Hey, anyone that one episode which the nitpickers of this fandom positively DESPISE for lampooning them? The one that features the very poignant and relevant-to-this-post song, “Flawless”? My god, that was such a great episode. Perfectly took the piss out of every self-awareness lacking autist in this fandom to the point they were left moaning and shrieking over how ‘mean spirited’ - i.e., accurate - it was.
The show needs to put people like that (and OP here, if they’re indeed serious) in their place more often, I feel.
