I guess Sunset and her friends getting everything they want and more, never losing anything by the end of every single EQG special just isn’t enough? Considering how much the sirens have already lost and Sunset’s behavior at the time, I think she needed a much worse dressing down than they gave her.
Now they just feel like a loose end left untied.
Technically, anything short of slaughtering the entire cast is a ‘loose end’ because anything could happen in the future. As it stands, the sirens are moving on and finding a place for themselves, and doing it their own way. It seems reasonable to conclude that they’ll walk their path without the Rainbooms to set it for them.
Even if they never outright befriended the girls, they could at least have shown a growing appreciation for their new home and the fact they even got a second chance in the first place.
As I may have hinted above, it’s entirely possible to move on and be happy in life without the direct say-so of the Friendship Authorities, and they never really ‘got a second chance,’ definitely not in the sense that Sunset and the rest did, they’re building one on their own.
All the supposed beauty of them learning to move on and adapt? Those gentle faces that suggested they might have learned humility and gratitude for what they do have? It’s all gone, now.
No, it isn’t. Not liking the girls that destroyed their previous way of life (even if that way was evil) doesn’t mean they can’t or didn’t change.
Now I see they’re just ungrateful bitches with unjustified superiority complexes who are just putting on a front. I think they could use another round of humiliation to remind them that they’re nothing more than “human scum” now, themselves. In fact, they’re less than that. Let’s see how high and mighty they act when their music career inevitably dies, as it no doubt will, and they’re left with nothing once again.
They can’t possibly be different because they didn’t grovel enough for your liking? Didn’t look weak and vulnerable enough like Sunset and the rest, even after losing their power? You think they need to suffer more until they adhere to your expectations? Really?
To borrow a line from the special, maybe it’s you who needs to change.
I’ll be honest, I’m sorely disappointed with their role in this episode. I was hoping for some kind of scene depicting them in the episode finale. Having them just drive off (without a lot of their stuff, incidentally) after being royal bitches towards Sunset again (so, they haven’t changed one bit) was just underwhelming (not to mention, it stung that Sunset never got back at them, even though the time loop resetting kinda undid their little moment of smugness anyway). But the unrepentant devastation that will be unleashed by these accursed sea-demons(semon?) will know no bounds! For the power of the ‘My bad’ cannot be questioned in this universe! For once penitence is made, no more shall a soul have bearing in that world save for petty background appearances at best! The Dazzlings will never it wrongdoing no matter how much doing they have wronged! They rightfully fear the sloppy writing which has endowed the Apology with omnipotent sway!
