I’d reckon that while she is generally optimistic, she was demonstrated to have no confidence in her abilities to create original designs, which is why she only improved upon other designs rather than creating her own. Considering the number of years of working at her craft without having any true original designs in her name, she likely lost hope of ever being regarded as that great of a fashionista, therefore draining her of her color and hope. The pep she exhibited in the special is clearly greater than the average day due to the fact that her personal hero in the world of fashion walked through her shop’s very doors, giving her hope of positive reviews of her work from an expert, as well as tips and encouragement so she can become better at her craft.
Anyone else find it strange how her prosthetic leg is shaped like an actual horse leg instead of a cylinder?
Not really. Ponies are made of marshmallow fluff, while this look to be wooden. A fully wooden leg would be much heavier than a normal pony limb, while lacking the muscle necessary for lifting and moving it, making the prosthetic too unwieldy. Thus a smaller, lighter limb is the more effective solution.

I feel that design choice was made in universe in order to make it stand out more as a work of art or fashion choice rather than nothing more than a prosthetic leg. As for the resemblance to normal horse legs that ponies have no knowledge of… I’ve got nothing.

I don’t think that we know if she isn’t, either.

Edited because: Misspelled word
It makes me sad to think of how a pone lost their marshmallow leg :’(
Anyone else notice it has the same colors as an Iron Man suit (metallic yellow and red)?
The world’s greatest dance ^^

I don’t actually ^^;
quads confirm Kerfuffle is best pony.
Normal prosthetic legs often just follow the bone structure terminator-style, like here.
