(Although, I do think the show would have been better if it had left romance out.)
I don’t really care if Spike and Rarity got together or not. I just would have liked his crush on Rarity finally addressed so there could be a resolution. Whether they become an official couple or Spike moves on is irrelevant to me.
Well the show is called friendship is magic not romance is magic, the writers are not interested in pairing Spike and Rarity with anybody else or make them a couple.
To me, it felt like they changed Sparity to more like a close friendship than a kid who’s had a crush for a really long time in order to fit into the episode’s moral.
What are you talking about? The episode didn’t confirm Spike is over his crush whatsoever, there are episodes don’t always show Spike’s crush. What you saying is headcanon.

It did. Spike for the first time ever, didn’t care about Rarity, wasn’t obsessed with her, didn’t blush over her or had any heart shapes on his pupils. He did only blushed over gabby. This is pretty much Spike and Rarity episode resolving Sparity and saying “We should meet other people”. We all knew they can’t canonize Sparity, but most people hoped they would just leave it ambiguous. Instead they gave Spike a random girlfriend out of nowhere instead Ember or Smolder.
They just ing characters they don’t really count, I was talking about the main characters or characters that get more focus episodes.

They used the word “friend”, so they pretty much didn’t confirm it or deny it.
