A part of me feels for Rainbow. Wanting a future that doesn’t consist of a menial minimum wage job is something to take seriously, even if you have to break a few eggshells along the way.
On the other hand, my heart really goes out to Derpy because of everything she’s going through right now.
There is no easy solution, and there are many details we don’t know, like if Firefly really knows what exactly happened to Derpy, or if Firefly doesn’t want Rainbow Dash to feel guilty for bringing that unicorn to the dance (Wich wouldn’t have happened had Rainbow Dash listened to Firefly).
Rainbow Dash isn’t thinking straight at the moment, it would make things more complicated if she was told “Derpy is pregnant!” right there, when not even Derpy is sure how to deal with it; Rainbow Dash is not in the mood to be talked either…
Continued: By the way that’s the worst actions of Rainbow Dash that Firefly is afraid she’ll do when she would probably do the exact opposite and just shift Derpy’s postion around the team that will benefit her and keep Derpy’s baby safe.
@Alel
Which is why I said it’s better for Firefly to tell Rainbow Dash what’s wrong with Derpy. While she’s not the most sympathitic pony until years later, she’ll understand what is more important if she actually knows about these situations. Like how she was worried that Firefly might get expelled for saving her that day from the unicorn, except for the fact that it’s kind of her fault as well.
Basically Rainbow Dash is a Blunt Master subtlety is pretty weak. So unless she is shown or told about the problems Derpy has Rainbow will never completely understand Derpy’s true situation. Especially if you say that “something’s happen to her recently” this should be the perfect time to tell Rainbow Dash exactly what’s wrong with Derpy, because being vague about it will make her think of anything besides that…
But… I understand Firefly’s reason for being hesitant about telling Rainbow the exact details for fear that her reaction to that will give her the excuse to try to get Derpy off the team either by trying to convince her to quit or threaten to tell the coach about it.
@Alel
She wasn’t accepted in the speedsters because the bully she fought against earlier had close ties with the coach and just pointed out all of her negative qualities and the kicker is that the coach was willing to put up with it until the bully said “Rainbow claimed she pulled off the ‘fabled’ Sonic Rainboom,” which makes her seem like she has delusions of grandeur(sp?).
People, Rainbow Dash wasn’t accepted in the Speedsters because of her ATTITUDE, not because of her skills. Stop over-protecting her, she is missing the point, she is wrong, and she has to grow. This doesn’t mean the author hates her, this means the author is giving her more depth, more conflict. This takes place before the show, ?
disagreeing with vree. rainbow dash should accept the fact that shes on a casual team and just try to chill out. you cant get what you want if you dont appreciate what you get. also, this is all her own fault. if she hadnt played a prank on fluttershy in the very beginning then she could have stayed invisible and not on billys bad side
I’m pretty sure this could be avoided if Firefly told Rainbow Dash what’s wrong with Derpy, then she’ll understand… But then she’ll probably try to get Derpy to quit due to what’s happened to her.
Dash has to deal with a team that considers sports to be a casual pastime while she considers recognition in sports to be her future.
She is not entirely wrong that with the attitude the team has right now, they are unlikely to ever improve either. For Dash who works hard to push herself to her limits, this is especially frustrating. No matter how good you are, you are still evaluated on the performance of your team as an individual as well in team sports.
Firefly IS a bit idealized, acting the part of the raisonneur (as the French called it), being the voice of reason and the occassional mouthpiece for the author. But I think that’s forgivable.
That couch is fuckin’ useless, by the way.

Indeed.

Ok, true. Though it’s not like reacting violently helped her case.
I’m expecting Derpy to “teach” Rainbow Dash some perspective, that she (Rainbow Dash) doesn’t have it nearly as bad as she thinks…

You have a point.

If she’s still a bit of a jerk later in life, why wouldn’t she be one here?
“dash gets treated like shit and acts like a huge cunt”
You mean “Season 2” ?
All this comic is really doing for me anymore is depressing me.
