DeviantArt is gonna be permanently changing to the inferior Eclipse design. This design is awful compared to what we have now, it’s messy, confusing looking and trash. It even seems to lag, which is really bad. I know who ever’s doing this won’t listen to us, but I thought this would be a fun picture to make. When the last days of may come DeviantArt is gonna lose loads OF subscribers.

I guess most of the re-design cost comes from planning on how the side is supposed to look and work. I mean, I’ve heard that creating the slogan for city can cost millions.
But I agree on fighting aganist eclipse.

Yeah, I know that’s probably the reason… Maybe they should’ve thought twice before blowing a load of cash on it. But then again Derpibooru pretty much has a redesign on the April 1st each year, I know it’s alot simpler when the mods of this site a lick of silly paint, but I can’t see DeviantArt’s redesign would cost that much money in comparison, esspically when the site is heavily monetized and thousands of s have core hips. Then again I don’t know alot about the cost of re-deg websites. It all seems silly to me, but at least It does give us something to fight for! To be honest, it’s been very entertaining to start a war on Eclipse.

I’ve often said that the only reason media/business bosses are so out of touch is because they have no interest in being in touch. That wall of silence between /customer/client and provider/creator is there intentionally. They don’t WANT opinions and critique, they just want traffic and money. Since cutting us all off at the knees has been the most effective way to make profits, they will never stray. Particularly in other forms of business, such as cable, where the companies have formed amicable regional territories at the expense of customer choice and quality service.
Maintain the wall of silence, target the young (too naive to put up a fight); profit. <- how the first world operates today.
I fear that sort of thing will only get worse from here out. As soon as the “nothing is okay to do, say, or feel” crowd get into positions of real power… it’s over. Freedom of speech, expression, and individuality will be smothered for some time in the name of a misguided “greater good”.
Every redesign everywhere in the last 10 (or so) years has been driven primarily by two purposes:
Maximize the screen space for ads, minimize actual content.
Change for the sake of change. “It’s old, therefore it sucks and must be replaced”, soon followed by “we paid big money for this ugly and bloated ‘modern’ redesign that no one asked for, so we sure as hell are going to force everyone to use it!”.
(Reason number three, “muh mobile”, is embedded in points 1 and 2. Usually point two.)

I already heard that eclipse breaks DA group function. So they’ll release a broken mess for regular PC’s just to it might work beter on phine. But who’s ing their drawings via phone anyway?

Especially since these are made for mobile platforms first, everything else second (and poorly). And even then, sometimes they aren’t even good on phones!
