As for the question at hand: Yes, I realise that the other names are essentially synonyms for “twilight sparkle”…though that doesn’t mean they’re bad. Hell, I for one am kinda gutted that (as far as we know) Sunset Shimmer won’t be in the show, as her description would make for some interesting lore-building IMHO

Pony names aren’t gendered. I’ve never cared for the movement to switch their names for no good reason, but objecting to a name based on gender is pointless when the name schema ignores gender already.
Besides, most people already give Luna a girl’s name when they use the alternate names.

I kind of can see past it to enjoy the show for what it is. The only reason we got crystal ponies is probably because someone at Hasbro said “hey, it’s easier/cheaper to just mold these blindbags in one color and add glitter!”
I normally resent change, but I’m actually looking forward to Sunset Shimmer, should she ever appear. All I could see is an expansion to the show plot(besides the forced marketing by Hasbro….).

They could’ve given Sombra shadow ponies as trash mob minions he summons towards the empire as he encroaches. But nooo!
