It’s strange how I miss an American TV channel that I never watched outside of pony livestreams. And season 3, you were short and had many poor episodes, but you weren’t a completely lost cause.
TBF season 1 had issues outside of animation errors, like very mechanical dialogue propped up by zingers and good music. Not that it’s bad by any means, but doesn’t hold up as well as the dialogue in later seasons.
your current filter.This shot is still cool all these years later. S3 was a pretty big step up for the animation. I don’t think there’s ever going to be a concrete day that G4 “stopped being good” because the show fluctuated in quality quite a bit on different aspects. Season 1 was riddled with animation errors, but later seasons suffered from the natural drift in priorities that happen when a show is headed by several people, many of which weren’t on in the beginning.

As someone who had The Hub starting with the season 2 finale, can confirm, was a great channel. Discovery Family was good, but it was never quite the same, so when FiM ended, it was a much easier decision to (eventually) switch to streaming and cut the cord. (With the brouhaha going on with the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, I’m honestly kinda glad I no longer have the means to watch that channel)
You know, this is the first time in years that I’ve heard that take. Still just as ridiculous as it was a decade-plus ago. However, that (as well as Ebalosus’s reply) reminded me of how, back in the day when it first aired, people were much more critical of Luna Eclipsed than they ended up being.
Fim was already dead when Hasbro failed to bring back s1 Luna again in Season 2 of fim.
