In the re-enactment version, Sprout is in Tempest Shadow’s place and Sunny is in Twilight’s place. I know Gen 5 is in the same universe as Gen 4 but it’s still a different generation.
Emperor Sprout captures Sunny Starscout and cages her. After the two meet eye to eye, Sprout basically gaslights Sunny and whatnot. I can kind of imagine it being related to unity and Sprout being very jealous of Sunny but also angry that he lost. He breaks into song, “Open Up Your Eyes” and sings it to her. Although in Sprout’s version, some verses would be different to match the situation, because let’s be honest, Sunny and Sprout have known each other since Childhood.

Sort of, yes but at the same time denying it. Sprout here is using his views as a manipulation tactic to make Sunny reconsider. He doesn’t want pity.
So that’s another difference between this and the original version.

Misty may have more similarities to Tempest but this song and scenario is too out of character for her. Misty would never do such a thing or if she did, she would probably fail.
Besides, in this re-enactment, the reasons for the Open Up Your Eyes scene is totally different. Unlike Tempest, Sprout isn’t serving anyone and he is doing all this to be more sinister, unlike Tempest.
Sprout in this version is basically a tyrant and wants to destroy the unity like originally planned. He also captured Sunny due to his anger at her for bringing it back.
Sprout: If you weren’t born, I’ll still be in power! And those Stupid pegasi and unicorns would be wiped out! I hate you Sunny, Startscout and you’re annoying friends!
Sunny: Well you been a bully me and my father and if you haven’t destroy my house or been a big meanie to others, you’ll wouldn’t been sheriff!
Honestly this would have worked better with Misty instead of Sprout considering Misty, like Tempest, served another villain in hopes of gaining something (a cutie mark for Misty, a restored horn for Tempest), and Opaline did say in Chapter 5 she never intended to give Misty a cutie mark.
possibly this version of open your eyes would be by sprout showing everything he has heard about the atrocities the unicorns and pegasus have done in the past with earth ponies, the main message would be him telling sunny that the three tribes cannot always be friends they would fight and therefore he would not allow his tribe to be destroyed.
