If something “decidedly fantastical is the centerpiece,” then human-like creatures - such as elves, fairies, centaurs, etc - fit in, as well, because they’re also fantastical. And there were already other non-fantastical creatures around, such as the Mane Six’s pets. No offense, but… at first, you said: “it was ALL about the ponies and, like, NOT humans.” And, now - all of a sudden - you say it’s all about “ponies and non-humans…” So, it’s evident that even humans and human-like creatures undoubtedly fits in this centerpiece perfectly fine.
If G4 is about countless creatures learning about friendship, then humans and human-like creatures should’ve been in it to learn about it, too, which is what every intelligent person would understand. But they weren’t - obviously because of Equestria Girls - which is why G4 was actually a failure. I don’t have a problem with anyone still regarding it as “excellent,” though.
Speaking of friendship, since Danny’s the one who created the magic of friendship, due to him being the original Brony, one of the concepts I have in mind for him is that he defeats his double in The Ending of the End - the main antagonist who represents the dark side of friendship - by unleashing the magic of friendship on him.
@TheCEOofSCS
Because the centerpiece, the part that SELLS, are the ponies and non-humans.
No kid gets into something like Transformers and wants a Witwicky toy, for example.
You also bore the heck out of kids by cramming in more human characters into a story where something decidedly fantastical is the centerpiece, be it ponies, dragons, or robots, because any time you’re sitting and staring at a scene of the humans, you could INSTEAD have a scene with more pony/dragon/robot.
Yes, G1 had humans in it and it was “fine”. However G4 has zero humans in it and it was excellent.
@Background Pony #1EBC
The best way to handle the premise is if it was like G1, where humans and ponies already existed together and no one made a big deal out of it, which Icey1517 pointed out. It’s a shame humans - particularly the Williams siblings -and human-like creatures weren’t in the other incarnations after G1, though…
No offense, but I find it very, very odd that people say “it was ALL about the ponies and, like, NOT humans,” even though there’s a dragon among them…
So, it’s quite valid to have humans, particularly the Williams siblings, as protagonists alongside the ponies - such as the Mane Six in G4 - just like in G1. Danny and Twilight would even make the perfect pair and have the most significant relationship of all, according to this post.
Even Cathy Weseluck liked my comment about seeing Danny and Spike together in G4.
Have to double comment here. I really don’t see this going well. 2d/3d, G4 reboot, G5 finale, or G6 reveal. The craze for G4 died out in about 2015/2016. G5’s movie made less than 10% of what G4’s did and the series flopped. G6 is unknown territory.
The budget for live action would be insane. The first Sonic movie was about 85 million. And that was just him and Eggman. If it’s anything of G4, that’s at least six characters who’ll have to be drawn in. And that’s just if they’re 2d. 3d will be even more expensive.
@Daneasaur
What I was saying is that the live-action movie would potentionally work out if it’s based on G1.
I know how you feel, that “the ponies, whoever they are, “pop” into our world to have “wacky zany mishaps” with the focus being on culture shock,” but it’s your choice if you want the movie to be that way or not. I mean, it’s not like that it would happen by itself, would it? Also, if you want Danny to be a “total buffoon like Spike Witwicky in Transformers 2007 where he’s just the butt of the jokes,” is your choice, as well. If it was up to me, I’d make sure that the movie is based on G1, make Danny play prominent roles with the ponies, as I said before. And, once again, he’s the dominant character of My Little Pony. He had authority, he was a leader, he was resourceful, he was stalwart, and everything. This has been proven since G1, such as The Ghost of Paradise Estate, for example.
Speaking of Danny, it’s such a shame that humans didn’t return in the other incarnations of My Little Pony, particularly the Williams siblings… In G4, I’d have him being the one who unleashes the Magic of Friendship. Since he’s the original Brony, he’s the one who created it due to his bond with the ponies, and they had so much in common together, even in G1. In fact, he had it within him the whole time.
I understand that you don’t want Spike to appear in the movie since you don’t want him to have anything to do with that mess you’re expecting it to be, that he’d become a “total buffoon like Spike Witwicky in Transformers 2007 where he’s just the butt of the jokes” himself… or worse.
@TheCEOofSCS
You’re not looking at this the right way.
They WILL NOT be doing it like G1. It will be done like EVERY OTHER movie nowadays where the ponies, whoever they are, “pop” into our world to have “wacky zany mishaps” with the focus being on culture shock. The ponies will be “aliens” to our world and the conflict will be focused in that. IF Danny is in the movie, he’ll be a total buffoon like Spike Witwicky in Transformers 2007 where he’s just the butt of the jokes.
It won’t be like G1, 2, 3, certainly not 4 or 5. It will be a mess.
@Daneasaur
If it’s supposed to be “ALL about the ponies and, like, NOT humans,” then Spike shouldn’t be a part of it, either.
@Daneasaur
How would “the inclusion of humans really just smashes the entire concept as a whole?” If it’s supposed to be “ALL about the ponies and, like, NOT humans,” as you said, then the inclusion of dragons - particularly Spike - “really just smashes the entire concept as a whole,” as well, in that case. Furthermore, the live-action movie would potentionally work out if its based on G1. As for me, I hope Danny gets prominent roles to play with the ponies, and he proved himself as the dominant character of My Little Pony.
I personally don’t see any manner of it being decent.
We also don’t know WHAT ponies will be involved. It could be an entirely new group of ponies that aren’t apart of G4 or G5.
This could even be a catastrophic implementation of how they intend to start G6, kinda forgetting that people liked G4 and G5 because it was ALL about the ponies and, like, NOT humans.
TBH I think the best way to handle the premise is if it was like G1,where humans and ponies already existed together and no one made a big deal out of it
Would be much better and less confusing then “Ponies go from cartoon world to real world”
Please do not tangent to your own creations or fetishes, ok?

While the absurdity for G4 backed off in 2014, it remained fairly solid.
