I like G5, but I wholesale reject the whole “Twilight rose to power and then a month later screwed things up”. My headcanon is that G5 is thousands of years later and kingdoms and borders and customs just naturally changed over time and she and her friends are mythical entities now and G5 ponies don’t even really know how much of G4 was real and how much was myth :D
Either that, or it’s an alternate timeline where Twiggles had to take over before she was ready, hence why she still has her regular pony form :D
Y’know, I’ve always thought 2.0 Twilight didn’t look as natural as it should. And now, thanks to this picture, I realize why: Twilight doesn’t look good in regalia. The tiara for sure (she wore the Big Crown Thingy really well, after all), but the regalia is a bit much.

Is it because I attacked a downed mage in my latest Saturday DnD session?
Perhaps you are right, but that mage is/was an accomplice to assassins and was trying to flee, so I wanted to make sure he was down and stayed down.
Ironically, she’d probably get right on with Dark Magician. They’re both loyal, heroic, dark-themed spellcasters :D
When she gets off the throne and faces a foe directly, she needs to make an entrance :D
