yeeeah consoles suck, you cant upgrade them, mods for the games and they go out of date rather quickly. a top of the line PC plays better than consoles, and you can play ANY game on a PC, where as some games you cannot play well on a console. just it it, consoles are better in every way except portability. even then though, you’d need to lug around a TV anyways.

The last generation was 8 years with current plans for the next one to last just as long if not longer.
And if you know know the people in your PC shop you may not trust them to build you something at the right price.
Honestly, my PC is for internet, skype and the occasional steam game when I’m not using those. keeping my audio and visual info on those separate from my games is important to me.

And how long is the console cycle now? Because I’ve had my gaming PC for at LEAST six or seven years now and I’m still playing shit like Skyrim at max settings just fine, and the whole thing only cost me $600 to have built from scratch, plus a $200 graphics/RAM/mobo upgrade two years ago. I use it 12+ hours a day, every day, for gaming, movies, schoolwork, internet browsing. Still going strong.
The best thing you can do aside from learning how to build one yourself is to find a local computer shop owned by computer geeks. All the parts I got in basically near mint condition, ‘used’, because the PC shop guys are always upgrading to the very top of the line parts. They can build you exactly what you need for cheap. Talk to them, explain what you’re looking to get out of it (Graphics quality, smooth framerate, or just something that’ll run modern games at average settings for cheap.)
Console generations are now lasting longer than your average PC, so your argument of people having PC’s ripe for upgrading to gaming level doesn’t hold up I’m afraid.
PC gaming can provide mods and better graphical fidelity. But you have to it is a consistent and appealing aesthetic that makes visuals and you don’t need to be on the cutting edge for that.

People with 4+ year old last legs computers who really should just be buying a new computer anyways? Yeah. Drop an extra $200 on some bells and whistles when you replace it and gasp, you can play modern video games at console level graphics.
I think you underestimate how many people are using computers that are over 2 or 3 years old or computers that are just chugging along at the bare minimum.
