I think I know what’s causing this. The magic that’s making the keys remain ordinary objects does leak and causes this transformation. Although it’s unsure if this also affects Earth Ponies & Pegasi, because the only known race that are affected are Unicorns.
What if that fuck up is an alicorn? Does that mean TWO alicorns are made?!
i’d guess that just like with the lemon hearts example, the animators tried to make him a background pegasus and forgot to take off the horn.
