As long as they’re well-drawn, and not ‘shipping then people seem to accept Sonic pics better.
As for ‘shipping, it’s funny how this fanbase s odd pairings like say Applejack X her big brother, or say Discord X anybody, yet put Dashie with the hedgehog, (even if she’s drawn anthro’ like him) and bronies get out their pitch-forks, and totally freak out.
(Honestly, the pairing is no worse/strange then RarityXSpike. At least, Dashie & Sonic would be closer in age…)
I think those double-standards with odd/random pairings is one of the reasons I’m not to into pairing/shipping personally. (But I’ve seen worse ‘shipper wars in other fanbases, at least.)
Yeah, not all crossovers are bad, I suppose. It’s when fans try to cross them over with to many things in one pic, that it gets out of hand, and such.

Actually, some of the ‘Sonic & RD’ Pics I found on this site do have upvotes but yeah it’s mostly a downvotes galore.

That’s some good points. I can see why they avoid it. Honestly, I don’t give a flying || yay || that I’m labelled as an autistic guy. As long as the crossover does well, I’m fine with it.

I can’t find anything to argue with that.
But we have already a LOT of fan art of just about everything, and I don’t think many people genuinely want to look at your average, subpar, “look I pasted two .png’s / look I (badly) drew two characters” crossover picture.
I understand why people make them, but they shouldn’t expect much praise when they go and share it online.
I agree that the instant and irrational hate on crossovers (everything with Sonic and RD gets insta downvotes galore, I don’t like it myself but it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets) is annoying, but there are so many of them, and so many of them are subpar… I guess people just expect crossovers to be bad, and don’t even take the time to properly look at it when they come across one.

People hated them before that controversial story-arc. (And that was more of an AU story, rather then “Crossover.”)
I think it’s ‘cause a few fans tend to see poorly done fanart, or “copy & paste” fanart of crossovers, and such.
Also, autistic fans (nothing against them, mind you) are quite fond of crossover fanart, so people don’t want to be associated with crossovers, and be labeled “autistic,” and such.
Still, this has over 80 upvotes, with few downvotes, so you can’t really complain.
I like the Sonic & Dashie bit, even if it is a bit cliche’. I think the Link & Applejack bit is clever. (Link could get apples in “A Link to the Past.”)
I also like this one in particular because it was well made.

Why not? If you’re not making fan stuff because you’re a fan and like the things you’re a fan of… what’s the point of anything?
Exactly. Not to mention, they create interesting situations with the characters.
Even so sometimes crossovers can be amusing.
Otherwise stuff like “Super Smash Bros.” wouldn’t be so popular.
