Though it’s debatable if that’s for the better
S3-S5 Sombra was one-dimensional, yet unique enough that more and more people started defending him; even FIENDship-Siege Sombra, redemption or not, still acted like a no-nonsense nemesis.
S9 Sombra was the worst of both worlds: one-dimensional and cliche. And little more than fodder for the new guy (who wasn’t even the real deal, no less), on top of it.

Princess Luna V1 was her “de-powered” state. Celestia has a version of her own with a pink mane. Of course, it would have helped if the devs ed those little details when the two of them and Cadance gave all of their power to Twilight. But what can you do? The concept of “canon” is only as strong as the quality of the people in control of it.
Reformed after being defeated as Nightmare Moon by the mane six after trying to dethrone her older sister Princess Celestia and taking control of Canterlot and Ponyville but was killed off after the two part S1 plot by Hasbro in favor of an version of an slightly older Luna with an magical mane so she’s now dead. Poor girl. :(
Discord: Reformed
Was evil once out of anger due to being trapped in a statue for thousands of years by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna but was later reformed due to befriending Fluttershy.
Queen Chrysalis: Banished / Dethroned
Tried to take over the Crystal Kingdom by pretending to be Princess Cadance and marrying Prince Shining Armor so she can rise to power as Queen but was banished from the Crystal Kingdom by Princess Cadance and then later dethroned by King Thorax.
The Great and Powerful Trixie: Reformed
Once swore revenge against Twilight for upstaging her and being more powerful with magic than she is. Now reformed through friendship with Starlight Glimmer.
Sunset Shimmer: Reformed
Once swore revenge against Princess Celestia for stealing her birthright as Princess of the Sun. Now reformed through friendship with human Twilight and the rest of the humanized mane six.
Lord Tirek: Imprisoned
Tricked Discord into giving him all of the unicorns in ponyville so he can steal all of their magic powers to get stronger and then turned against Discord and stole all of his discorded magic too as well. Was eventually overpowered by Twilight who had absorbed all of Princess Celestia’s and Princess Luna’s last bit of magic and returned to his weakened sate before being imprisoned.
The Dazzlings: Depowered and Humiliated
A trio band that tried to take over the high school by controlling the teachers and students and using the teachers’ and students’ love for their songs to grow stronger in power. Was upstaged and depowered by the now reformed Sunset Slimmer and the mane six in a band contest before running away from the school grounds.
King Sombra: Dead
Tried to overpower Princess Cadance and take over the Crystal Kingdom. Was blown to bits and killed when Twilight and Princess Cadance managed to put the Crystal Heart back together and restore power to the Crystal Kingdom.
Fan rumors spread that King Sombra was still alive due to his horn still being in once piece when he blew up but Hasbro later confirmed that King Sombra is indeed dead. So he’s the second pony to die in the series.
S1 Luna was unfortually the first one to die. She never returned again after the S1 plot. And Hasbro confirmed that they’re not bringing her back again since they’re happy with the current Princess Luna. Yes, she’s not coming back. A pity really cause she was my favorite pony. Oh, well at least I only had to get the S1 DVDs and not the other 6 seasons. I kinda feel bad for the other MLP fans since the show will get to it’s 150th episode really soon. Yes, you heard me 150 episodes. The show’s starting to get out of hand now. And the numbers are only going to rise since there’s an possibly of an eighth season too as well. Seems Hasbro’s milking the cash cow for all it’s worth. _’

Yeah, I’m tempted to not even do a comics canon version because of how that turned out. The big waste of time that was the “villains” team-up was bad enough, but the execution of the final issue was so bad that I consider the entire non-canon to the comics. I want to pretend that the big tease at the end of the first Fiendship issue did not happen because it’s follow-up failed on every single level.

Show Sombra is definitely still dead, but comic Sombra just completed an incredibly retarded story arc that brought him back and made him into something that doesn’t even resemble the actual Sombra. He’s not the same character at all.
I would’ve done and updated version by now, but I think I wanna wait until the last issue of the recent arc comes out (which thankfully comes out this month). Sure, I could always toss out IDW and stick to the show (and I’ll probably do it anyway to please all anti-IDW people out there), but I wanna cover it anyway. I don’t want to just write “Dead again” for Sombra if the comics do something else.

I’m planning on making an update after the season finale/Friendship Games (whichever comes last). I’ll probably keep it at the major villains from the premiere/finale/movies and exclude Trixie this time.

That does not say the comics are not canon. It says the merit of the comics as canon is optional on the part of the show’s creators. For that reason, I think it’s better to assume they’re canon unless otherwise indicated.

In the comics, she gets imprisoned. Then she tricks Twilight into setting her free.
