‘I’ve got a MLP fanfic in my mind, and I’ve been watching the episodes to make sure I can write it well. There’s one scene in which Derpy and Spike, having fallen off a train, are stuck in the desert together. One of Derpy’s wings is sprained, so she can’t fly. Spike is frustrated with being stuck in such a situation with this doofus, but in their time together he learns that she actually isn’t useless.
The scene I have in mind is one in which they’re walking in the desert side-by-side. One of Derpy’s wings is dragging on the ground, and the other is held up to shade Spike from the noontime sun, which is a bit too hot for a baby dragon. She’s her usual cheerful self, and Spike is surprised; he never thought of using a wing as a parasol.’

He did sweat. When the dragon returned to its gave while he was stuffing himself on gems in Owl’s Well. I imagine that when swimming in lava, the sweat just instantly evaporates.
Maybe he can ride on her back and hold up something they find in the desert to try to keep cool? Maybe have Spike cut down and clean a cactus because Derpy told him of the water inside? He knew that but was too distraught to . Don’t want it to seem like Twilight never taught him trivia.
