They’re used in ration kits back then I think. because they don’t melt as much as ordinary chocolate. (And I just ed that it was mortar rounds the Marine needed, and the radio operator didn’t have the list of Marine codes for equipment. So, when Marine called for “Tootsie Rolls,” their codeword for mortar rounds, he actually got a box of Tootsie Rolls!)
I hearing about this screw-up during the Korean War where a solidier needed a crate of howitzer rounds but because he used a code word, he got a crate of Tootsie rolls.
@Drefsab
I’ve been told the US military keeps on getting funding for tanks it doesn’t need. Thousands or ten of thousands just sit in various depots collecting dust. Whenever a congressman addresses it, they talk of it without actually having been briefed about it at all, which is more or less what congressmen do with anything old people can’t effectively understand like SOPA or global warming. XD

Yes but don’t you think since it’s a CATALOG, you should keep things RELATIVELY TOGETHER BECAUSE YOU CAN MAKE IT THAT WAY? Example is like all electrical things under >3 _ _ *, all air carrier things under >5 * _ _ _, ect.
@SilentObserver01
Look at it like this. If I type >>890723, I get this image. But by typing >>890724, just one number off, I get a completely different image.
@platypusmac
How the fuck does one or two numbers wrong get you something COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY REMOTELY DIFFERENT!? That’s like needing a spark plug and getting one number wrong and ending up with a freaking ICBM.
@Timstro59
That’s similar to another story I’ve read… a trooper in a mountain base needed a new headlight for the jeep, so he filled a requisition form and sent it. Apparently he got a number or two wrong, because a few weeks later a truck showed up with an aircraft carrier’s anchor.
And,no one found this to be in the least bit odd? Like perhaps asking for a confirmation of the Part in question first?!

I a funny story from as guy who was in a mechanic division(?) and accidentally filled out a requisition form. He needed generator points and ended up getting a 155mm self propelled howitzer…..from what I heard, his CO was not happy.
@Ichijoe
If you want higher resolution you’ll have to fill out a form 778-B, in triplicate, and submit it to your quartermaster. Expect 4-400 weeks for delivery.

Don’t remind me…
>sweaty beret head
I KNEW IT!
That’s the–oh, you beat me to it. Drat.
Isn’t that literally the definition of ORGANIZATION?
>INB4 that’s the joke.

Well, if we ever get engaged with a major power again, we’ll have plenty of spares.

Haha, you think there’s some kind of logic behind military organization. That’s cute.
It’s the military. It doesn’t have to make sense.

Thanks for AB image I’ve yet to fav. :D

They were testing a new, automated requisition system. You know, online, by computer. And, sadly, computers don’t ask questions.

It’s all good; just use the requisition forms…

God help you if you try to order toilet paper.
So from anywhere from a Month to SEVEN YEAR’S, AND SEVEN MONTHS?!
Its a wonder our poor military can get anything done!
