@OneOverTwo
Whoops, I miscounted. I meant four and five, not five and six. She has a look of surprise|realization in four, which seems to me that it’d fit better with the pause in her speech.
@Psycho Shy
That little bit of info along with what she said in Pinkie Pride and the flashback in Games Ponies Play makes it clear that Cloudsdale is where she grew up, so it is home to here but her current residence has clearly been Ponyville for the start of the show.
Transcript from Rainbow Falls:
Fleetfoot: You know, you grew up in Cloudsdale.
Spitfire: So that means you could fly with us.
(Notice how they say “grew up in Cloudsdale” & not “live in Cloudsdale. There’s also the fact that in that episode she’s playing for the Ponyville team.)
I know you showed yourself out, but I need to save this for the next time someone says Rainbow Dash lives in Cloudsdale.
@Prof.NightJack
“If a wrong choice you choose to pursue, the foundations of home will crumble without you.”
“Cloudsdale? Crumble… without me?”
Discord and Rainbow Dash, Return of Harmony (Part I)
Of course, I made the fatal mistake of trusting Discord as a reliable source of information, which is always certain to lead to public embarrassment. I’ll…show myself out now.
@Psycho Shy
From a transcript of “Tanks for the Memories”:
Rainbow Dash: Look at that, Tank! Cloudsdale’s here! That means Ponyville is next up for winter!
(Not likely a thing for someone who lives in Cloudsdale to say, I think.)
& from a transcript of “Pinkie Pride”:
Rainbow Dash: I’ll tell you what – making this party epic! ‘Cause this isn’t just any birthday. It’s also the anniversary of when I moved to Ponyville!
(She pretty much says here that she lives in Ponyville.)
@Blacklight Shining
I guess open mouths while talking might be more common, but there’s not really anything weird about a closed mouth character with a speech bubble.
After all, when you’re talking sometimes your mouth is closed. (& since you said that thing about dialogue, it’s strange that you’d see s 5 & 6 as switched considering her mouth is closed in 5 & it’s open when she talks in 6.)
This seems a bit odd, and I think it’s because Dash’s mouth is closed in the third (characters in still comics tend to be drawn with open mouths when they have dialogue…right?) and the expressions in the fifth and sixth s seem like they got switched around. It’s amusing, though.
Oh dude. I’d literally just last night watched Rich Hall’s ||Inventing the Indian || documentary (warning: grimdark old-timey photos, very deadpan delivery, discusses racism and genocide, 90 freakin’ minutes long) to edumacate myself moar in something I know I don’t naturally grok. BTW it’s bloody good, though USAians may think it a bit Noddy.
Dashie’s little insensitivity there, the general fuckedness of Griffonstone, and the way they’re even using pony currency chimed in well with that, probably for all the wrong historical reasons in the fictional ponyverse. I hope. But we all know who writes the history books.
tl;dw: I just made myself sad. Also when you see Gilda’s home town and the reasons she’s been such a jerk you want to hug her and listen to her story. One of these things may not be safe.

You could also interpret home as hometown—i.e. place of birth|raising, but not necessarily current residence.

Used the live there, but moved to Ponyville before the start of the show.

I read that as IMO, interpreted it as IIRC, and assumed you were talking about a prev-gen thing. Not a place on Earth.
There’s a Humansville, MO.
