@Da5ch
It was actually a request originally. (As stated in the description).
I was trying to avoid repeating armies, and Rarity’s got the Craftworld Eldar. (Gems on everything. Just fits way too well).
Gave Dash the Dark Angels Ravenwing. Tough force that moves fast.
I love Lightning Dust. I hate Dark Eldar. They are so lame. They are lame because almost all their units are weak as balls, their whole schtick of over-the-top sadism and preying on other races’ pain and misery reminds me more of internet trolls than a proper army, and powering their tech with the tortured agony of their victims is utterly retarded.
Fuck Dark Eldar…LD would be regular Eldar, and so would Rainbow. I have a headcanon that the Eldar are 40K’s analog to pegasi, because of their speed and agility of their units and infantry.
I’m guessing they’re getting Will Hayes to spend a day or two a week working on it, seeing as he’s one of their best model makers they’ll want him doing other toys for the Horus Heresy line they’re working on at the moment.
I have brought it up a few times when ordering models, and the guys on the line have pretty much confirmed that the model is getting done.
For obvious reasons, they can’t say any more than ‘yes, we’re on with it’.
It’d cause quite a stir in the fan base if they announced the model too early.
If Will is spending only a day or two a week on the project, (which just makes sense to me), then that’d extend the production time by several months.
@40kponyguy
Urdgrub…
I think that’s one of Ghazghkull’s other names.
The character I’m thinking of is mentioned in the Ork codex as the one Ghazghkull gets the ‘tellyportas’ from when he invades Armageddon.
@Kharn The Generally Swell Guy
It’s possible that’s who I was thinking of. My knowledge of the Ork codexes is a bit shaky. I’ve only ever used the army a couple of times.
Combine the name you mentioned ‘Makari’, with the background for ‘Da Red Gobbo’, and that’s probably where I got my wires crossed.
I did some rules for one of the other players at the club (who’s doing a Gretchin codex) for a leader ‘Malakari’, and a couple of other characters too.
I equipped him with a melta gun and power weapon.
WS and BS 5,Strength and Toughness 3, Initiative 4, 3 attacks, Ld 8, 4+ save plus 2 wounds.
(All Orks follow the biggest and strongest. Makes sense for the Grots to do likewise).
Also gave him the choice of allowing one friendly unit to outflank, infiltrate, or deep strike, (player’s choice).
The other rule I gave him was that he was unnaturally lucky, so got a 5+ invul save.
I think I made him 70 points.
There’s been some awesome concepts for characters over the years, many of which never got a miniature to represent them.
At least Forge World have finally realized players wanted miniatures for the primarchs.
I’ve a sneaking suspicion that the next primarch they do is going to be Conrad Kurze.
It’s fairly easy to see which one’s next, because they release the specific bodyguard models for the primarch a few weeks before they announce the guy himself.
I also have the limited edition Kroot shaper character Anghor Prok in my collection.
I don’t even know if that guy has official rules.
And speaking of rules, have you seen the rules for the Imperator titan?
Loads of mistakes.
The height seems about right, putting the model at around 3 feet tall.
The leg bastions are supposed to hold a full guard platoon. That’s 5 ten man squads, and a 5 man command staff. The official data sheet puts the capacity at 50.
The weapon on the top of the tower on the titan’s back is supposed to be a defense laser.
There’s no mention of any other weapons besides the main guns on it either.
The Imperator is supposed to have 2 hydra anti aircraft batteries on the platform on the top, and 4 heavy bolter turrets under the corner towers, plus weapon mounts in the legs and pelvis.
Wonder if Forgeworld will eventually build the Imperator?
Possibly, if the Warlord sells well enough when they get it finished.
@40kponyguy
Oh, and the Ghazghkull rival ork…are you thinking of Nazdreg the Bad Moon Warboss back from Orks 2nd edition? Or was this a non codex character?
@Kharn The Generally Swell Guy
I was going back to 2nd edition here.
Malakari was a Gretchin special character who was supposed to be the leader of a grot revolution against the Orks.
The other character was a rival to Ghazghkull.
I’d have to dig out one of the old white dwarf magazines to find who that character was.
@40kponyguy
Makari? Yeah, he was Ghazghkull’s banner waver. The other two characters were Old Zogwart and the incredibly badass Wazdakka the Red, who actually managed to take down a titan in the most awesome way possible.
@Kharn The Generally Swell Guy
Not to mention losing The Red Terror (even if the model does look dated when put alongside the newer stuff), and Old One Eye.
I can even the Orks used to have two other special character or two that disappeared ages ago.
One of which I have.
That grot character with the melta pistol.
Can’t his name right now.
@40kponyguy
Ditto. Yeah, I liked a lot of those guys. Straken’s back though, so there’s that at least. Oh, and let’s not forget characters lost a while back. I’m looking at you, Doomrider. Tyranids got hit hard with losing Doom, The Parasite, and their drop-pod spores.
Dark Eldar lost ‘Kruella The Vile’ when they re-did the rule book, even though she had a model. (Which I have btw).
Eldar lost the rules for ‘Iyanna Ariennal’, (Iyanden spirit seer who’s supposed to be the main rival to Prince Yriel), and ‘Nuadhu Fireheart’, (Saim Hann wild rider chief) who’s concept was pretty cool.
He fought using a singing spear from the back of a modified Vyper jetbike.
Neither of these characters ever got a figure to represent them however, and the rulebook they’re from is actually the 3rd edition one with a blue cover. Their rules would still work even with the 7th edition.
Imperial Guard lost over half the characters.
‘Iron hand’ Straken, Captain Al Rehem, Lord Solar Macharius, Marbo, Schaeffer’s last chancers, the list goes on.
Daft thing is, every character there had a figure produced to represent it too.
I actually collect named characters from 40k, and I’m still missing quite a few, but with these characters disappearing from the rule books, they’re becoming harder to get.
I still painting those slaves (1 sister of battle and I think the other was a normal Eldar girl, both in really skimpy outfits), that go in the middle of Vect’s platform in front of his throne….
Almost makes me consider doing Dark Elves some time. Just to paint those sorceress figures.
Almost, but not quite.
Every game of Warhammer fantasy I’ve played went the same way.
Deploy.
Move my force forward (High Elves, so little in the way of ranged firepower)
Get over 3/4 of my force annihilated by the enemy Empire or Dwarf gunline that everyone else used.
Pack up and go home.
My only attempt to use Dwarves was even worse.
1st turn (we were using a small table, only 2 foot square) I won the initiative.
Both my stone thrower and cannon exploded rather than firing, killing their crews, and my runesmith commander in to the bargain.
Nothing else I had could do much. (Gyrocopter, Great Axe unit and a Crossbows unit left).
Enemy charged with his 2 units of Empire Knights of the Inner Circle.
Completely destroyed both my troop units.
These games kinda put me off playing Warhammer Fantasy Battle.
@40kponyguy
Oh no, they have good HQs (if ya use ’em right), but I was referring to the fact that The Baron, The Duke, The Decapitator, and Lady Malys all lack models. Even Vect, the MOST IMPORTANT DARK ELDAR IN THE CODEX, only has a highly rare OOP model from over a decade ago.
That battle with the Tau was actually against my missus’ younger sister.
(Yeah, I’ve been with my other half for over 10 years now. I know, I’m showing my age a bit there).
@DrCoolcabbage
I can one game where I used Dark Eldar (and it’s so long ago that I was using the OLD versions of them).
Captured a rather good prize in that game.
Logan Grimnar!
Another game, I used them against Tau.
Used a really sneaky tactic that game.
Turbo boosted my 7 man jetbike unit right in front of the enemy.
Needless to say, this was a ruse.
This took my opponent’s attention away from the rest of my army as it moved JUST close enough to unload my warriors from their transports so they could move, run and charge next turn (4th edition 40k rules).
The single Tau hammerhead didn’t even get chance to fire! I had 2 ravagers at the back of my own army.
Whilst there’s a couple of minor things I’d like to have improved on here, I think the main one is I really should’ve put more miniatures on the table here.
The picture works okay, but there’s a big gap between the archon and the kabalite warriors.
Maybe I should’ve put a couple of jetbikes in or something.
It was actually a request originally. (As stated in the description).

Yep. That’s him. Nazdreg’s full name is “Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub”.
I certainly hope they make the Imperator, but between that and the warlord, I’ll have to apologize profusely to my wallet.
Urdgrub…

Oh, and the Ghazghkull rival ork…are you thinking of Nazdreg the Bad Moon Warboss back from Orks 2nd edition? Or was this a non codex character?
Huh. I don’t Malakari. I just “Da Red Gobbo”, the Grot who headed the Gretchin Revolutionary Committee against the Orks on Gorkamorka.
I was going back to 2nd edition here.

It’s after re-reading comments like this that I wish Derpibooru had an edit function for the comments….
I think it’s obvious what I meant anyway.
Not to mention losing The Red Terror (even if the model does look dated when put alongside the newer stuff), and Old One Eye.

I’m disappointed with GW removing a lot of the named characters from the codexes.
