Looks more like the Chief is trying to drown out that kid’s crying by firing his gun next to his head. Look at him, he probably sounds how this looks:

The dark past that he no longer cares for. He dropped that in the end of Shadow the Hedgehog. And some people just swear casually, kinda like Shadow.
I still think that he should get another game. Possibly one where Sonic is either missing or in a serious condition, so the next hedgehog they look to is Shadow.
I think Shadow should get another game where he’s the main character. I think people see shadow as edgy because he’s not gun-shy. And he’s fully willing to operate machinery.

I didn’t say he couldn’t look badass, it’s just that colorful ponies kinda ruin the whole dark and broody thing he usually has going on. It’s impossibly to take someone seriously when they have a Sweetie Belle on their head.

Well, Shadow’s now a Comander in GUN. Maybe GUN sent Shadow to investigate.
And Shadow isn’t a bad character because all the other edgy characters have a dark past, Shadow no longer cares for his. In Shadow the Hedgehog, that’s exactly what Shadow does in the end. Because he dropped his past, he was able to GUN and eventually gained the rank of Comander. If I’m correct, he’s also well respected in GUN.

Plus the swearing, and the black and red color scheme, and the dark and troubled past.
The Chief in-armor is 7’1”. And he’s 6’9” out-of-armor.

Heroic? Yes. Dark and edgy? Not so much. Also, I know Chief is like, 8’, but that size difference still seems to be a bit much.
To me, Shadow was edgy, until the end. At the end of the game, he dropped all care that he had for his past.
His own game made him edgy, but yeah in SA2 and most other games he’s just cranky.

Fluttershy, ironically, did a pretty good job in “Stare Master” once she found them, and now she has their respect :q
