The acceptance of a critique has no bearing on whether or not I like the concept of a darkerTia / lighterLuna or vise versa. This was a requested piece for a friend that prefers the princesses be toned in this particular way. Additionally, I grow tired of the constant stream of complaint that my way is wrong and other peoples way is right. It is a false dichotomy and a facile argument. If you would like the princesses drawn to your specifications, please commission me. I’m not picky about their skin tones when the purchaser makes the conditions.
I think it makes slightly more sense then them having completely different skin colors. It implies that they had botha lighter-skinned and darker-skinned parent, and thus their skin color has a bit more variety. But hey, to each their own.
I think Celestia should be the tan one, due to her being the sun princess, while Luna should be pale because she is the moon princess. Luna is the night monarch, which would mean she would not get tanned because she is active mostly at night, and not out in the sun. Celestia would be exposed to the sun more, and would be more likely to be the one with a tan.
