We need a episode that shows exactly what would happen if Twilight and the others didn’t have Spike to help them maybe like a “Its a Wonderful Life” type of episode where Luna shows all of Spike’s friends a dreamworld where Spike didn’t exist and show how vital he is to them in order to repair their friendship or something else like that. We know how Twilight would react but I can’t help but wanting see how the writers would flesh it out.

Also Spike is very vital to the team and has been from the very beginning especially in season 2 with discord and I don’t need to mention the season 3 premier. If Spike wasn’t vital before then, he is now. He even got a stained glass window for himself and that’s nothing to sneeze at.

Without Spike, Twilight would probably have become a filthy, dishelved psychopath who pisses in milk bottles before the first episode.
Alpha was a very vital member of the cast.
The correct analogy would be to say that, if Celestia is Zordon, Spike is Alpha.
