As an added bit of info, Ponythroat specifically had a blog on a non-porn saying he’s okay with using his works for any kind of tracing, as it can be good practice if used right. He just wants attribution and you’ve done that as well as it can be done without bringing up his current s he doesn’t want connected.

tbh for the reasons Ponythroat left the community he probably wouldn’t be happy seeing stuff dredged back up. He literally abandoned his to focus on his other ones for mental health reasons (Addiction and people becoming aware of it irl), so that is the reason you never got a response as he hasn’t been online since Apr 29th, 2020 when he went cold turkey on that profile, so of course your not going to get a reply from a dead . XD

ponythroat has an artist tag (they’re aware of Derpibooru and actively engaged with what is/isn’t allowed from their perspective at some point in the past), but it only limits posting of their own original work; it’s silent on edits which should mean it’s fine.
Compare that with >>2625650 by AGR whose artist tag says “Not a fan of people posting edits of my works here without my permission”, and then a work inspired by the original animation >>2629067 was made, which opened up a discussion about how similar an “edit” is.
You’ve made a good faith effort to reach the artist, but more importantly you don’t appear to be violating any policies in regards to this artist; not sure if there’s anything worth worrying about here, at least in of Derpi’s rules.

Traced art isn’t really a problem if you’re crediting the person who made it, it’s only bad when you’re deceiving people into thinking its fully your own work.
But yes Ponythroat isn’t active on that alias, you can probably ask them on one of their other ones though since they still make art and etc on them.
To be honest I didn’t know where else to find him, I don’t know what other s he has nor where, I only found the 1. Otherwise I’d have checked more up to date s at the start. Perhaps you can DM me some of his more up to date s? Though I cant confirm I’ll be redrawing anymore of his work, though there is a possibility that I might in the near or distant future I prefer to do my own stuff :3
I think you nailed it. Her original expression looks condescending in a way: very relaxed and half-closed horizontal eye lids. This pulls her cheeks up higher towards the eyes and makes for a much more lewd expression, it really makes a huge difference, particularly when combined with a blush.
Honestly Rarity’s expression is completely different in this one, going from seductive to distressed. So I think it at least deviates away from the original enough to be its own art. Plus more vore art is always good. :)
