I think the writers are afraid to have Twilight do anything impressive or important as a princess because they don’t want to anger the people who don’t want twilicorn to change the direction of the series (which is exactly what it should do). Of course, twilicorn having no effect and therefore appearing pointless just gives those people another excuse to complain about it.
