@Hypastpist I actually hope it doesn’t go as uninterruptedly long as The Simpsons for that exact reason. The main problem the writers for The Simpsons had was that the show was never given a break, a chance to breath, so by the time they got to 20 years they had literally done EVERYTHING.
@WassonG Not necessarily! MLP:FiM is the first time My Little Pony has been given serious consideration as a piece of art and culture, and TOS was the first time sci-fi in flm or TV had been given serious consideration as art and culture.
@TrickQuestion THIS. ALL OF MY THIS. Careful who you say that to, though, Firefly fans are a prickly bunch. Not that I blame them considering that their show got stuffed into a burlap sack and chucked into the Hudson with a cinder block tied to the top.
Sorry just looked at the stats again, it’s actually 1,200,000 pics on danbooru. Not 120,000 We’ve still got… About two years til we get there at the current rate of expansion.
@BronyHeresy And there’s the little matter of the show getting conventions for it under a year after the premiere. I don’t even think TOS worked that fast. XD
On a related note, I don’t think this fandom is going anywhere. Derpibooru has 2/3 the number of pictures on it in just the past couple of months than danbooru has acquired in its entire run.
OH, and for those wondering, Movie 5 does indeed have Twilight Sparkle battle “God” with televangelism, slapstick, and fart jokes. Neeeever let the star direct the movie, kids.
@Molly
Exactly! I can see it now, people/shows in the future making obscure references/parodies of the fandom, the small remaining fans, half crazy, looked upon as weirdoes.
@gg666
I don’t mean disappear entirely, I meant it would just fade away towards the dark corners of the internet, with some new fad going on at the same time.
I highly doubt this will happen.
I can see the show going on for a couple more years and later on them making a generation 5, which in all likelihood will be even more geared towards the general public seeing as how popular the show is now.
but the degradation of the original meaning and charm of the show is our only concern
dont forget checklists and long ridiculous equations nopony can solve. It is Twilight after all.
@donut64s If it did, we’d see a Babylon 5 with two extra seasons. :(

I’m thinking bronies might become the next trekkies. We’ve already acquired the required hatedom!
