What poor qualities do IDW Comics have, that are so damming? Writing of dialogues and jokes is as good if not better than in FIM (-some needless meta-humor and references).
I’d get if most people had sensible criticism, like too many issues having less than stellar art by Agnes Garbowska, but everyone complains either about poor character writing, even though issues where it could be found are not only few and far between, but I also haven’t seen in them anything further out than what could be found in Lesson 0 or the Stage Fright episode, with the way Pinkie acted there.
But the fuss that everyone was making around the “lore errors” is what really grinds my gears. The show that comics dare to contradict added a whole friggin Alicorn just because of a new toy, and then they did it again! The world in MLP has next to no integrity! whole new cultures and species, like Kirin, appear at writer’s will, what makes Deer from Everfree different?

We already know. For Putin to his rule, as it was with Crimea before the elections.
Very true! Despite there always being other reasons or justifications, the obsession with holding power as strongly pronounced as Putin’s should be considered the main one.

Personally, i like this one better than all those positive alternatives, because it still retains some of the edge without being as simple as “big scary Twilight bullies the new main character”.
And i don’t get what would be so meaningless about this twist: Twilight’s actions in G5 are can be argued against, both in of ethics and how necessary they actually were. So it would make a lot sense for her oldest mentor to be the one to confront her about those actions.
To put it shortly, i think the twist has at least as much meaning as the original “not-yours-to-give” concept.
