I think what the artist was going for was more of a euphoric feel for Twilight rather than her being in peril. And if the he was replicating the scene from the Jungle Book, Kaa never did strangle his victim. It’s more the hypnosis and suggestion of sleep that compels her to feel more drowsy, not so much the lack of oxygen due to strangulation.
