Really, if you don’t think any given pony will be insulted, you’re going to have a bad time.
The other CMCs keep referring to Scoots’ inability to fly (chicken, dodo, etcetera), the Mane 6 generally get tired of each other sometimes (and sometimes don’t have the greatest of opinions of each other), and so on.
‘Spike Justice Warriors’ kind of ruin things for me too, and I like Spike. Unreasonable demands makes it harder to try to just make him less of a comic relief; He’s an interesting character, I feel, and we don’t get to really see him at his best when the writers never know what to do with him.
And in general, sorry for getting the topic unto ‘best pony’; In my defense, I didn’t start it, and my point wasn’t ‘RD’s best pony, screw Applejack!’, it was ‘Eh, I’ll it you’ve a point about AJ being great, but personally I like RD’s energy more’
But I really should know better; It’s worse than talking about Kirk vs. Picard, or Star Trek vs. Wars vs. Gate vs. whatever. (Or even Star Gate vs Star Gate Universe vs Star Gate Atlantis, and there’s probably more by now)

AJ shares RD’s conceited personality, she just shows it in a different, more subtle way. While she doesn’t going around talking shit about others to their faces, she hardly hides her disdain for anything “fancy”, refined or in any other way not associated with country values, like fine food, regardless of its actual value.
Hence her comments about Fancy mathematics, speaking in fancy, anything related to Trenderhoof at all, proper manners and so on. Again, regardless of actual value, and feels insulted if asked to, say, wash mud off her feet before tracking in all over someone elses home. A worrying attitude to hygiene from someone who not only handles food with her feet, but also regularly trudges through pigsties and worse.
So you see its not that she isn’t conceited, just like RD, she just shows it with her disdain of anything that isn’t country.

I’m not judging the ponies (or people, for that matter) simply in of how valuable they are to an economy. That’s such a cold way of looking at them! There’s so much more to them than that… It’s what’s in their hearts that matters. Think about the 5 Elements of Harmony (not counting Magic): Honesty, Loyalty, Laughter, Generosity, Kindness… These are what make a person a good person (although all human beings are valuable simply because they’re human beings). As for Applejack not going around talking about how great she is all the time, that might be a plus. She’s modest, which is a good trait, whereas Rainbow Dash is obnoxiously arrogant.

Well, in that case I shall keep ‘Grey Mare’ as my headcanon name for her (I think Grey is a pretty name, and would have suited her well growing up), and in this case ignore the canon. Thank you, TexasUberAlles, for letting me know.
