Look at that. Her vision gets worse, she consistently gets worse placements in the race, and yet she always has a smile on her face. She doesn’t care if she doesn’t get first, because she’s already won.
These are the pieces of MLP that really make it something I love.
Uh, she crashed into a building head first and got severe brain damage. She used to be a smart young filly known as Muffins and after this accident she was bullied and called names like “Derpy”.
So in my headcanon, calling her Derpy is contributing to bullying, and you’re all monsters.
That’s pretty clever and subtle story telling. Without trying to assume anything, i’m guessing Derpy was an excellent flier, and got worst as whatever eye condition she has degenerated.

@Pinkie WK
Not a problem. I couldn’t have done it without the true fans keeping an eye out for the little starlet.
And honestly, the attention to the background is only because of the fandom who actively scoured the settings and pointed out each of the ponies there.
@Daneasaur
Wow I don’t watching these moments… This makes me want to watch the episodes again.
It’s nice to see that Derpy has her own little story told in the background. It reminds you that MLP is a great show with lots of details, unlike other big series like Dragon Ball Super that has nothing going on in the background.
I’m thankful for the effort put in the show.

My headcanon is that she developed some kind of eye condition (Lazy eye? Crossed eyes? I’m not sure what the exact condition would be), and her eyesight slowly got worse. According to the flashback in Where the Apple Lies, she eventually got surgery to try and correct her vision in her teenage years. While the surgery didn’t fix her condition, it may have at least stabilized it, and kept it from getting worse.

lol what a garbage headcanon.

You assume multiple years, but they are Rainbows seniors. More likely within a year.
She’ll always be number one in our hearts…
