Again, everything you said about voting your way made sense, but without regard to other people. It shouldn’t be anyone’s concern how they vote to you or vice versa. That’s all I was saying. Ie. purely the merit of the pic itself or lack of merit thereof. (I don’t want to turn this into a discussion in the comments though)

Daring to be different, huh? Nah. More like it’s insulting when a poorly drawn image has a better like to dislike ratio than another, often better, image. I rarely dislike this way, but it is one of the ways I dislike things. I wouldn’t dislike something that I actually thought was drawn well, even if I didn’t like the content. But tastes are a thing, yeah. Preferences and all that jazz.
Sounded like a good idea then I saw that bit of curiosity. Against the grain of how others do it? Sounds like a “daring to be different” kind of thing at that point. I mean I know what you are saying and how you vote is really out of my jurisdiction and none of my business. No offense intended, please don’t get me wrong. Again, you otherwise had what sounds like a reasonable ethic.

I downvote stuff I think is aesthetically terrible which, somehow, also got a lot of upvotes. Like terribly drawn ‘bits’, faces, anatomy in general, or is just plain cringe.
I’m fairly sure you really know why upvotes are good and downvotes are abused, but I’ll explain it just in case you aren’t trying to avoid the issue…
When people like something, they upvote. A picture with a lot of upvotes is most likely a good picture. If you want to get upvotes, you draw good pictures.
When people don’t like something, they downvote. But a picture with lots of downvotes isn’t necessarily a bad picture, it’s just a picture that pissed off a lot of people. If you want to get less upvotes, you avoid controversial topics and stick to whatever is mainstream.
I don’t like futa, so I have filtered it away. I’m sure a lot of it is very well drawn, but it’s not my thing so I’m not going around judging it by how I feel about it. That wouldn’t help anyone, it would just screw the ratings for those who actually do like it.
Well, if someone that can draw actually took the time to make this, you can say this actually pissed off loads of people and not just the usual “vocal minority”.

I have zero qualms with them adding a “hide” feature in the options above a post.
But honestly ,there are images I’ve downvoted and then I had a sensible discussion in it explaining why it was bad and got to see the artist improve.
Well, no, one person was pissed enough to make an image and decided to it. That’s not “loads of people”.
they need to improve the system in question, not remove parts of it.
