Well Grampa gruff isn’t anyone’s real grampa and big Jim has said on Twitter that Gruff is Gallus’s guardian despite not being related.
So me thinks Grampa Gruff is just in charge of raising the orphans of Griffonstone, Gallus is just outside cos he wants to get away.

Or one of them is actually the offspring of a nest parasite like a cuckoo/lion griffon, so that they were raised in the same nest by the same parents, but aren’t even the same species.
People in teh comments are quick to try and say that Gabby and Gilda are not sisters, but like, did you not read the text above? It’s canon that these 4 are blood related family. The only thing we don’t know for sure, is if Gabyy and Gilda are sisters, or some close approximation instead.
Gallus has no concept of cousins because he’s a street orphan. And yeah, Grampa Gruff isn’t anyone’s grandpa anyway (he’s everyone’s grandpa), so we don’t know how/if they’re related.
