Most orchestras today actually use modern instruments(yes, modern instruments). The violins, violas, cellos, double basses, woodwinds and other instruments in most orchestras today are modern, so we usually aren’t hearing Beethoven’s and Mozart’s music like it’s supposed to sound.

I listen to Baroque and Renaissance music a lot, but I also listen to music from the Classical period and Romantic period; when it comes to modern music I listen to Jazz, Disco(I love The Trammps), Funk, Soul(California Soul is a Soul-song I like a lot), Rock, Metal, Hard-Rock and other genres; I’m open-minded towards other genres. I think I have good taste, because I like A LOT, and not just when it comes to music; I try to look at things positively, because I want to like them, not dislike them, becaus disliking is negative.

First off, Dire Straits doesn’t suck.  
Secondly, classical music isn’t boring. Usually.

Seems odd to me.  
Octavia’s my favorite background pony, largely because of the fan art, but also because of the dark look, and her obvious talent with music.  
As far as my taste in music goes though, it’s virtually impossible for anyone not to like something in my collection.  
The only genre of music I don’t like is indie. (Blur, Pulp, Oasis etc.)  
I just find that style dreary and depressing.
 
The bulk of my favorites are dance/trance tunes though.  
So Octavia’s probably not going to approve of that.

well, i wouldn’t use the term “classy”. Whenever i think of the term classy, i think of rich spoiled snobs who masturbate with their pinkie finger and wipe the cum off with a hankercheif. I’d rather use the term “intelliectual”. Other than that, I agree with you! Its kinda cool to see that there are plenty of bronies who arent the steriotype dubstep/techno/trance electronic music that us geeks/nerds have to listen to. We can be pretty damn intelliectual too! (nuthin against dubstep, i’m just sayin’ ;) )
 
Also, anyone else reminded of Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 everytime you see Octavia? I always picture her playing that!

Agreed. Just all the more reason Octavia is best pony. (Tavi is my fave as well for the same reasons. But I live with some rather uncouth people….Funny thing is one makes dubstep under the alias of “DJ PON-3”)

I’m pretty sure that based on the descrpition, she’s talking to Ponka. Besides orchestra not is boring by any stretch of the imagination.

Two things: 1.) Y’know, there is still contemporary orchestra still being composed not stuck in the 19th century. 2.) I would consider myself a refined person with refined tastes (one of the reasons Tavi is my fav as well), but I still like popular music as the umbrella term for a large number of genres; (from jazz to rock to pop and everything in between) it’s not just pop.

I do like some Dubstep but I like it the best when it’s played in the style of vinyls Dubstep

Listening to classical music has enlightened me about being a classy gentlemen, and has also made me feel closer to my favorite pony, Octavia. I’m glad I share musical tastes with Octavia, instead of Vinyl scratch and her shitty modern music. Classical music is for classy men, modern day music is for stupid 12 year olds

I actually like classical music.

No octy as a metal head I see potential in your music and its inspiring to me as well :D
