Back to context: I like the idea that the new characters will find Twilight somewhere. Maybe she’s frozen, or maybe she lost hope and that they have to bring back hope to her so that friendship can return. Who knows?

I always did wonder why people thi k Twilight would go crazy or tyrannical when her friends die, but never seem to say the same with Celestia.
 
I mean, Celestia would have friends too. More so than Twilight. In many generations throughout many eras. Some closer than others. Most likely scenario is that Twilight would become like Celestia; a wise mentor figure to all ponies.
 
There will be a point in time that Twilight will feel sad about her friends, but it’ll definitely be followed by her treasuring their memory and becoming a better pony. Bittersweet but ultimately satisfying.
