Exactly my point, their worlds are not the same, so maybe they live and start their lives differently than humans do.
Maybe in the Pony universe, they don’t have to go to school anymore when they’re still teens, can get a job and become completely independent of themselves at a very young age.

None of them are in school, most of them have jobs, and the fact that these worlds are similar but not the same make all the difference. The fact is that Vice Principal Luna probably didn’t get banished from the country or school after trying to take over, and obviously the human Twilight Sparkle has not yet become Celestia’s prized student. There’s a reason why the portal is a mirror. It mirror’s Equestria, but it is an imperfect reflection.
No, an adult mare would be a pony as old as Cadance, maybe Cheerilee, and every mare who’s older than them.
The Mane 6 are all teen mares, which would make them almost as old as their human counterparts are.

He is still referred to as a baby dragon, plus the fact that she hatched him mush still carry some significance. Maybe “mother” isn’t the right word, maybe there isn’t a word for this particular set of circumstances, but I can’t help but think they’d consider each other some sort of family.

Except she was a filly at the time. Princesss Celestia wouldn’t put it on a filly to raise a baby by herself. Obviously her parents would take him in, as they were there for the hatching. Sure, when she is older she lives with him alone, but she’s an adult mare and he is her assistant.

I agree that species shouldn’t matter between sapient beings in any world (other than when the specific coupling would be biologically or physiologically dangerous to one or more of those involved). Age is more of a gray area, but when it comes to Twispike, the thing that makes it weird is something else.
She hatched him. She raised him. She’s basically his mom.That’s something that would have to be addressed, or at least acknowledged.

This. Also, Twilight, Spike, Sunset Shimmer and the Dazzlings aren’t even from the EqG universe. So who cares what age or species they are in that world, it’s not their world, so human logic shouldn’t apply to any of them anyway.

the 18 was a reference to age of consent (so if your estimate of spike being younger than twilight by 5 years is correct, he should be 13) so twilight being younger than that would mean spike would be so much younger than the age of consent.
of course i do not know the exact dragon to dog years conversion (as well as pony to human) so the ages probably won’t add up much (meaning spike might actually be older than his actual age if you consider the dog years).

Twilight and the other girls are still in their High School years, meaning they’re around 15-17 years old.
Last time I checked, I was already in College by the time I was 18.

I see nothing wrong with it. The fact that Spike had hatched from his egg when Twilight was around the same age as the CMC makes him a few years younger than her, and maybe a bit older than the CMC as well. Assuming he’s almost 5 years younger than her, if he is then it doesn’t count as pedophilia.
I probably should have mentioned you can still just pair up Spike with a grown mare (or stallion if that’s your thing) anyways, it’d just qualify as shota is all.
