I honestly wish they’d give Diamond Tiara some actual growth as a character more than assumptions and such. This ‘bully’ character can only last so long before it’s tiring…..Like the CMC’s cutie mark seeking antics.
In retrospect, it’s kinda funny that you phrased it that way.
@Evowizard25
that last line about ‘bully characters not lasting long’ reminds me of what happened to the bullies on ‘ben 10’ in the sequel ‘ben 10: alien force’.
they got called out by the main character for being stuck in the same routine even after all those years.
This implies that Diamond and Apple Bloom have known each other for years, grew up together. As well, there was probably a time where Diamond wasn’t a bully and they got along. {Hence why Apple Bloom was happy to see her. She associated it with happier times.}
@HJSDGCE
Well, actually, I think Diamond Tiara has the best development of the side fillies. Most of it, of course, happened in this episode.
Let’s see, we start off with Apple Bloom actually happy to see Diamond Tiara and a connection between the famalies. This implies that Diamond and Apple Bloom have known each other for years, grew up together. As well, there was probably a time where Diamond wasn’t a bully and they got along. {Hence why Apple Bloom was happy to see her. She associated it with happier times.} As well as how she listened to Diamond TIara about her Granny.
Next, we see Diamond Tiara as the only one who’s paying attention to her father’s speech and actually seems rather interested. Which goes to show she’s a total daddy’s girl and adores him. This, along with how she acted in Ponyville Confidential, lead one ot understand how she wants to be like her father. It also implies that her cutie mark means leadership.
Also, we can probably guess why Diamond picks on Apple Bloom so much. When Diamond got her cutie mark, and probably after some time of being spoiled, she let it go to her head and teased Apple Bloom. Notice that when Apple Bloom upstaged Diamond at her own cutienera that Diamond just walks away upset. I honestly think that hurt her deeply and she continues to pick on Apple Bloom and her friends because she hasn’t forgiven them for it.
That’s my two cents. I honestly wish they’d give Diamond Tiara some actual growth as a character more than assumptions and such. This ‘bully’ character can only last so long before it’s tiring…..Like the CMC’s cutie mark seeking antics.
Sadly, I don’t even think this was character development. I think the only real reason they did this was to say “oh my God that was such an amazing story even the bully liked it” rather than “hey she had a good side after all.”
@Background Pony #C6CD
Indeed. I think the Comic and the 100th episode are probably going to be all the character development most of the shows background and tertiary ponies will ever get - well, that and fanon.
@Kamazeustra
I’d go with the latter. I’ve always figured that AB and Scootaloo see Silver Spoon as just an extension of Diamond Tiara or as Dimaond Tiara with a different skin spread across her bones - the Manchukuo to Diamond Tiara’s Japan (to use a clumsy historical analogy). Now it’s been confirmed.
@Marshal805
Right now, it’s kinda true. And hell, if they ever do an episode focused on Silver Spoon, it probably won’t be all that important in the grand scheme of things.
So many here have been hoping that there would be hints dropped that she’s actually nicer than DT and is just an insecure follower.
She didn’t actually appear in Bloom and Gloom, though. That was just a dream Apple Bloom was having. That tells us that Apple Bloom, at least, sees no distinction between the two.
That may be a hint that there isn’t a redemption plot hiding inside of her and she really is cut from the same cloth as DT after all, or it may just say that Apple Bloom doesn’t think there’s anything better in her.
In retrospect, it’s kinda funny that you phrased it that way.

See Why am I Crying? for one headcanon on this.

Indeed…
I doubt they’ll have an episode where they shave the fur off their tummies. Or bikini areas now that I think of it.
Fair enough, but I have never seen evidence for it in the show.
They do there mammals after all :P
I think either interpretation works, honestly.
That you are. xP
I’m just a pessimistic grump though :/
I don’t get the reference. Hell, I don’t think the ponies even have navels!

I’m the first to it I’ve got no clue myself.
