If they wanted to keep “mare” in there, why not Solar Mare? Not a pun, but it rhymes? Solarmare Sun… Nah there’s no chance of making a good name out of that. They should just ditch “nightmare” and any variant, and just go for an entirely new name. Solar Flare has always been my favourite.
Still just seeing this as a real card is pretty cool, ragardless of what name they go with.

I’m in favor of Solar Flare since it sounds more poetic “how can a floating rock compare to the breath of a Solar Flare” or maybe even Corona Blaze

It does seem, if she appears, her name could very well possibly be changed. It’ll depend on the thoughts of the potential future staff assigned to create the character.

Nightmare had a double meaning, yeah! Like Night Female Horse, which is what NMM literally was! “Nightmare Star” for Celestia doesn’t sound as clever. “Star”, yes, but “Nightmare”? Needs some work, imho.
The Sun at it’s most brightest within a an 11 year cycles called a “solar maximum”. Maybe “Solar Maxima”? (“Maxima” being the feminine form of “Maximus”.)

Usually in mythology the Sun is not equated with a star and we dont know if its the same in pony culture but my grudge is being called “Nightmare” than so much Star
It doesn’t really make sense that she’s called Nightmare Star. For NMM it made perfect sense, especially considering the origin of the word. But for her, it just sounds goofy and out of place.

Which would’ve made more sense had the secret episode list coincided with last year’s major US holidays. Well, what could they do besides make the gap between seasons over a Goddamn year! XD
Albeit, one studio working on three or four separate cartoons and a movie may be a contributing factor. Once they realized there simply wasn’t enough time for everything, it was going to be apparent (as in now-ish) why the gap was as large as it was. ^_^;

I think the whole hiatus thing is more that Discovery is sitting on episodes because they can. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were done with the season almost, their deadlines and show air dates probably aren’t connected.
Or… this season has two IRL holiday-themed episodes lined up (Halloween and Christmas) and they have to coincide with the actual holidays or it wouldn’t make any sense. That had to have been planned for over a year now.

Very much unlikely that they got downtime, yup. Add that MLP is not the only show that animation dept. is doing, and it’s basically round-the-year work.

I heard a good theory the other day based on that, as it is based on the advertising dollars. As long as one of the shows in the morning block is “new”, they can safely charge more for ads. So they have arranged their various shows to keep as many going with “new” episodes as possible, along with having new pony when most schools start back up (higher viewership numbers, so even more ad revenue).

Actually, people seem to believe because no one on staff has commented on Star being in the show or not, she was only made for the TCG. :T
